The Mavic EN521 rim sits atop Mavic’s enduro line. It’s a nice, wide V-shape for stability and strength in harsh, unforgiving conditions. Knowing that the enduro-oriented like tubes for the security they offer, the rim is designed with single eyelets and needs a rim strip. High tech is worthless if it leaves you stranded.

Mavic likes to get mysterious with their rim/wheel names. At least, when it comes to rims, we’ve cracked the code (with their help). EN is the abbreviation for Enduro. The first digit is the level of the rim, with 1 entry level and nine pro, divided into three divisions, level 1, 2, and 3. Even numbers for the first digit denote UST rims. The last two digits are the ETRTO dimesion for rim width, which is measured internally. Therefore, the EN521 is an Enduro rim, in Mavic’s level two with a 21mm internal width.

The Mavic EN521 Disc rim is disc specific. The rim is extruded from 6106 aluminum and has the SUP process finished seams. It has single eyelets around the 32 or 36 spoke nipple holes and is traditionally drilled through the rim. Mavic recommends spoke tensions of 105-110kgf (kilogram-force) for the 32h versions and 90-110kgf for the 36h versions. The ETRTO compatible size: 559 x 21c. The recommended nipple length is 12 mm. The recommended rim tape size is 559 x 20 x 0.6. The recommended tire widths range from 2.10” to 2.50”. Black. 540g.
