This King can rule just about any wheel system. It's light and fast for tubed wheels, and it's also fast and light for tubeless.

The Continental Mountain King UST Tire is ideal for racing, riding, marathons, and personal epics. As with most Continental tires, it's an all-condition design. The tread is comprised of short, sharp, widely spaced knobs. This means they can both dig and shed, which we've found to be spot on. The side knobs are a bit taller for better gription in turns. Continental's short knobs are designed as all-rounders with a bias toward wet conditions. In fact, about the only surface we haven't been happy with them is on pavement, but what does that matter? It's a Mountain Bike after all, right?

There are two big differences between the UST and tubed versions of the Continental Mountain King. This one uses standard carbon black rubber. It also uses supple 110tpi cloth for the casing. The result is a casing that flexes better, allowing for the tread to grip better and the tire better conform to the ground underneath (fine print = great trail feel). As with all Continental UST tires, the inside is lined with 8mm of rubber to help keep air in.

Tubeless tires may seem to weigh more, but they are rarely heavier than the weight of a tire plus tube. And even if they are a bit more, the friction between the tire and tube doesn't slow you down, and you never have to worry about a pinch flat. Perhaps the most overlooked perk is ride quality; riding tubeless provides an inherent high-frequency vibration damping quality.

The Continental Mountain King UST tire comes in both 2.2" and 2.4" widths with 26" diameter. The tread is made from carbon black rubber. The casing is made from 110tpi cloth, overlapped twice under the tread, with a foldable Kevlar bead. The tread and sidewalls are Black. Maximum inflation pressure is 58psi. 620g (2.2)/ 700g (2.4).
