If you’ve been around bikes for more than a year, you know the story on XT and LX parts: less flash equals less cash. It’s not a bad trade-off when you get easy, fast, and reliable shifts, and compatibility up and down the Shimano line. XT doesn’t have the instant release or multi-release of XTR RapidFire Plus, nor is it as adjustable, but it does have two-way release like XTR and an optical gear display, which XTR doesn’t have.
The SL-M760 XT Rapidfire Plus shift levers are designed to shift two or three-ring cranks in front and nine cogs in back. They are not attached to a brake lever. They are designed to work with traditional top-normal rear derailleurs, though they can work with low-normal as well (the optical display will read the reverse of where the chain is on low-normal). 260g. MSRP $124.99.
