Here’s a crazy fact. Not all full-face helmets meet certification standards for the face guard. Makes you feel kind of naked, especially when there are helmets approved for motorcycling out there.

The 661 Flight Warp helmet is designed to pass both faceguard and overall safety standards for motorcyclists. It has been tested and has been proven to exceed Snell M2005 and DOT helmet safety standards. At first, it might seem overkill, but it’s hard to have too much protection when piloting a bike downhill at 50mph. Since people are already starting to turn to helmets for motorized cycling, 661 thought it best to take the moto standards and create a DH helmet that would have the safety for moto but a design optimized for cycling.

No, the Flight Warp isn’t the lightest helmet on the market, but is about 7oz heavier than a 661 bike-specific helmet. When you consider all that’s going on with the helmet, that’s ok. The shell is a composite of Kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass. The back of the helmet has a molded groove to keep goggle straps in place. There are both intake and exhaust vents to prevent overheating. The Savoie fabric pads that snug the face to the helmet are removable for washing. Between the Savoie pads and the helmet foam is an EPS foam liner with molds to conform to your head. The noseguard is soft rubber that is both better for skin contact and mud protection. The visor can be adjusted for angle and has oversized mounting hardware so it can take a beating.

The SixSixOne Flight Warp Helmet comes with a double d-ring helmet strap system, just like motorcycle helmets. It’s bigger, softer, and yet stiffer than plastic quick-release buckles as well as being infinitely adjustable. The helmet comes with a replacement visor. The helmet comes in four swoopy color patterns: Black/Green/White, Gloss Black/Red/White, Blue/White, Grey/White/Red. The helmet comes in six sizes from extra small to double extra large. A medium helmet weighs 3 lbs.
