As much as we want to wear our old 3/4 sleeve baseball-undershirt-style concert T’s over our armor, we know it’s not a good idea. Not so much because the shirts can sell on eBay or we seem ironic at parties, but because they’re too tight to cover pads and the cotton jersey too warm and doesn’t wick.

We’re glad Royal has found some style in the very basic form. In addition to using synthetic knits that are lighter and cooler and more comfortable than cotton, they also have designed the cut with the idea that pads are going on underneath. Aesthetically, the design is sublimated, so it doesn’t fade and the design accents don’t cause pools of sweat underneath. Actually, the design would have been impossible back in the day. The sleeves have a subtle plaid pattern that is enough to be distinctive without loud. The sides have a loose mesh for cooling. The collar has a dirt dam in front to keep out dirt that would splat in via a v-neck.

The Royal Race Jersey is only available with long-sleeves. The color schemes available are Black/White/Grey, Brown/Green/White, and Red/White/Grey. There are five sizes, starting at extra small and running through extra large.
