Titus Racer X Ti configure/buy Racer X Ti

The hardcore Titus faithful will tell you that you're better off with an aluminum Racer X than any other non-Titus frame on the market. But they'll also tell you that if you want the bike of a lifetime, you step up to the material that defines Titus as a company: Titanium. The Titus Racer X Titanium takes the legendary aluminum version of the frame, and enhances it with all the assets for which Ti is legendary: You gain added compliance, corrosion-proofness, and a toughness (especially when it comes to impact-resistance) that no other material can match.

The Racer X Ti has all of the suspension technology and engineering details that make the aluminum version such a joy to ride. You get the same strut-style Horst link design, and the traditional rockers you see on a Horst bike are instead replaced by an ultralight three piece carbon fiber X-Link linkage. The new-for-2006 swingarm has tapered tubes and a hollow boxed lower forging. You get carbon seatstays to enhance the shock absorption you gain from the Fox RP23, and you'll feel unparalleled stiffness thanks to its use of four oversized cartridge bearings stacked at the main pivot.

Titus recommends the use of either an 80 or 100mm front suspension fork with the Racer X Ti, to be paired in relation to the travel of the frame. The small size comes in both 80 and 100mm travel versions. The hand polished Titus Racer X Ti is available in Small 100, Medium 100, and Large 100. Or, for an additional $300, you can customize the frame's geometry -- this charge will be assessed after you check out. It is also available XXS 80, XS 80, and Small 80. It requires a 30.9 mm seatpost and a 34.9mm top-swing, dual-pull front derailleur.
