Christopher Walken is a supporting actor who never disappears into his roles. He works all the time, nails just about every role, and owns most of the scenes he appears in. Walken creates memorable parts -- he’s never the same yet he always stands out and always has a new character.

It’s the hair. The long. Face, The. Lean limbs. Smile; that’s odd. A screech, again and now, yet. The point. Is. The point we’re getting at. What this is. All about. Clunky. Smooth. Standing. Out. In. Fitting.

What we’re trying to say. Trying to impart unto you. Is that his feat impressive it is. That an actor who doesn’t seem to act. Has something unique going on. Versatile. One-off. Standing. Apart. Perfect. Together.

Think of all those people who do Walken impressions. Walken’s wife says Kevin Spacey’s is the best. There was a long-running show in Los Angeles where people just did their Walkens and walked off. It’s tapping into something. Something about something that’s hard not to get caught up in. They identify, if not understand, the secret. It’s practical, everyday, yet uniquely attractive.

The Swobo Dixon. It doesn’t seem right. But it’s perfect. The look is a bit clunky. Lines too clean to be mongo. Front and rear disc brakes for a street bike. Madness. Genius. Never would have considered. Internal nine-speed. Gearing. Easy. No need to think hard. No. Derailleurs to get trashed. Long Lasting. Chain. Looks rack. Looks good. With fenders.

Channeling Walken is work. Luckily, the bike isn’t. The Dixon reminds us of the actor because it stands out while fitting in. The angles lean MTB and the aluminum frame is built around 26'' wheels but it carries a street élan. Let’s back up for a second. The aluminum frame is finished in a Matte Steel Grey. It’s an incongruity. But it comes off as casual, natural. It surprises, giving a sly smile to those in the know. But it’s not precious or self-conscious.

The Avid mechanical disc brakes seem a bit overkill for street riding. There’s a BB-7 in the rear and BB-5 up front. Here again, the bike stands out. Canti’s would do the job fine. But the discs work great in all conditions and last a long time. Durability fits in.

The brakes are on 36 spoke wheels that have a locking quick release in front and a bolt-on rear, a street-smart combo. No reason to lock the back wheel, and with the front locking, you don’t have to remove it either. The rolling rubber is 1.5'' puncture-resistant Kenda Kwest tires. It’s subtle, but words with a “k” are funny. Repeated “k”s only more so.

The 38x19 single speed is actually a nine-speed setup. You see; it’s fitting in with the single gear scene, but standing out with the internal shifting. SRAM’s iMotion internal nine-speed is great for hilly places and windy places and you never have to think hard about the shifting. It’s a twist on the right handlebar. Gearing too heavy, twist to downshift. Too light, twist to upshift.

And like Walken, there's a wink or two. The Dixon knows fun. The bottle-opener built into the seat rails is not for you -- because drinking and riding is a punishable offense -- but for your friends who walked. There's the Swobo knurled end caps and shopping-cart top cap. The platform pedals work with any manner of footwear, so long as it isn’t cleated -- this should take you back to the days when riding didn’t call for special gear, just some time to swing a leg over and go.

Still, practical. The bike has got to be practical. We love the integrated blinky light. It sits in the seat post. This way, we’ll never forget to bring it, nor will an interested party walk off with it. Planet Bike fenders are optional, but we recommend them. This isn't a racer, but a bike you're rolling around on. No reason to get muddy, no reason to dress as if you’re going to get muddy. Stand out in the crowd, wear a suit to your next barbeque -- the bike won’t spray you.

The Dixon comes in five sizes: 16.5”, 16”, 18”, 20”, and 22”. They fit people from 4’10” to 6’4”. The color is Matte Steel Grey.

Please note this item will require a small amount of assembly on arrival.
