MiiR Mi 800ml Water Bottle $19.95
Make your money count for something.
We know that the world's problems appear to be so difficult and so vast that becoming overwhelmed and disengaged is almost the natural response. But, although the perspective commonly eludes us, our lives are a series of personal choices. And now, in the 21st century, we have the choice to make our purchases count for something other than feeding our wants and needs. That's right, we're talking about investing in a difference. And no, not in the donate five cents at the grocery store kind of way, we're talking about purchasing top-quality products like the MiiR Classic Bottle, while knowing that your purchase will provide one person clean drinking water for an entire year in some of the world's poorest regions.
We understand if you reserve a hint of skepticism, as much of the money from charity-oriented products is horribly mismanaged, and at times, distributed in a down right shady fashion. However, this couldn't be further from the truth with MiiR. With every bottle purchase, every cent of one dollar goes directly to those in need. How? In the forms of both clean water and sanitation projects. But, how can you be sure that your donation is being spent appropriately? Well, after you register your purchase, MiiR will notify you within 6 to 18 months of the location of the well project that your dollar created. Additionally, you get a numbered bracelet with every bottle purchase for reference of your good deed.
Now, the reasons are stacking as to why the MiiR clean water program is necessary. It's estimated that everyday, around 6,000 people die from water-born disease. On top of that, the World Health Organization estimates that nearly half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by people suffering from water-born illness. Altogether, this is the result of 1 in 8 people simply not having access to clean drinking water. This lack of clean water, and the conditions that arise from it, produce a volatile concoction of health and economic crisis. In fact, it's estimated to cost developing countries around $28 billion a year -- roughly 5% of GDP (UN Study). Luckily, your $1 and MiiR's dedication can change these statistics.
Now, MiiR isn't trying to hook you in with a sob story and colored bracelet. The Insulated Bottle is actually a well-crafted, purpose-driven bottle that you would be happy to use anyways. It's BPA free, fits in both cup holders and bottle cages, and it features a one-twist top that easily secures to a carabiner. Every bottle is made from South Korean-sourced, 18/8 stainless steel that's easily cleanable and remains odor-free.
So, you have a choice: Purchase a bottle that benefits do-nothing corporations, or purchase a bottle that will positively impact someone's life for an entire year. Seems like a simple decision.
The MiiR Classic Bottle - 800ml is available in the colors Matte Black, Stainless Steel, Blue, Green, Orange, and White.
What community has to say
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Nice design, but lacks a extra lid to drink water without opening the lid.
Cool bottle, Great Cause
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I grabbed one of these a couple weeks ago and I really like it. The stainless steel material is super durable and the bottle can easily be clipped to a pack for carrying. The colors on these are pretty sweet as well. On top of that, the impact it can have on people is a rad bonus. MiiR includes a numbered bracelet that you can register on their site and after about 6 months they send you info on the projects your money helped move forward. It's a great bottle and nice to see companies setting up programs like this to help people out!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have the 600 ml version as an everyday water bottle. I love the innovative shape and design. It makes it stand out among the various nalgenes, polar, sigg, etc water bottles. I have the green color, and it isn't quite as bright as the picture. But, it is still a great bottle. No bad taste to the water, holds up well, cap is easy to get on and off, and the hole in the cap is big enough for just about any carabiner to fit through. Very pleased.
