Maxxis Ardent Tire - 29in $42.00
Ready to roll.
A large volume tire creates less required air pressure, which results in a smoother ride. So, Maxxis gave the Ardent 29in Tire a round profile and 2.25in width for just that reason. It also has an aggressive tread pattern that not only allows you to float over the rough stuff, but to have plenty of traction on tap, too.
To prevent energy loss, the Ardent 29in Tire's center tread features ramped knobs. And while these are ideal for acceleration, they also assists with braking traction. At the side of the Ardent, large block-style knobs result in numerous edges for confidence in high-speed cornering.
The Maxxis Ardent 29in Tire is available in the color Black and with a 2.25-inch width. Please note that this tire features a folding bead, but it is not UST compatible. If you're looking for a UST tire, we recommend the Ardent 29in Evo Tire.

Love these things
I'm running 26" 2.6 front/2.25 rear Maxxis Ardents on my current AM bike and prefer them over the High Roller II which had been my tire of choice, simply because I think the Ardents have more feel and more grab. The sidewalls are very forgiving, but super tuff (taken out a few nice rocks with them :/ and they just scuffed with 30psi). I've used these on fast single track, park riding and freeriding in everything from super slick clay to dry shaly conditions and they give unsurpassed grab, especially when laying down the hammer when cornering, these tires are like confidence pills. Bottom line: Get em.
