Item # MAV002J

All-terrain mountain bike shoe for women.

While there are many road cycling shoes designed for women, the number of mountain bike shoes is limited to a few. Mavic has added one to the quiver with a women's shoe for everything from the gravel double-track to the slick-rock of Moab. The Mavic Zoyas are a well-fitting mountain bike shoe that won't break the piggy bank.

Unlike many off-road shoes that feature tread at the toe and heel and maybe a dragon teeth, Mavic designed the Zoya with a full Contragrip outsole that grips the rocks for those dreaded hike-a-bike sections of the trail. You won't slide on a slippery outsole or on your cleats. Additionally, an EVA midsole provides off-the-bike comfort for your arches. The Ergofit lite insole adds support and cushioning. The upper was sewn from synthetic leather and mesh. The mesh is breathable so that moisture evaporates away from your feet keeping them dry and warm. And, although we hope that you don't have to walk too much, padding around your ankles and achilles tendons ensure that your feet won't chafe if you get caught off your bike more than anticipated.

The Zoyas are secured with laces and a hook and loop strap. For added low-light visibility, reflective accents have been added. These shoes feature a generous fit so that you can wear them with heavier cycling socks for cool weather.

The Mavic Zoya comes in whole and half sizes from 5.0 to 10.5 and is available in the color Black/white.

  • Contagrip outsole provides trail-worthy traction on the bike and on foot
  • EVA midsole and Ergofit Lite insole keep the inside as comfortable as the outside is durable
  • Spacious fit accommodates thick socks and multiple layers
  • Reflective elements help keep you visible in low-light conditions

Love them

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

These are super comfy and so far, durable- easy to hike around in too. I wear an 8.5 in almost all other shoes, but size 8 fits perfectly. The Chocking-X color is definitely more pink than purple in real life, but still pretty awesome.

Unanswered Question

I usually wear a size 6 or 6.5 (6.5 in Brooks running shoes if that helps). Should I go to a 6 or 5.5 in these?

I'm a newbie to biking and I want to know what is the best type of shoe for trail riding. I have a hybrid bike with platform pedals. Is this shoe appropriate? Looks really cute, but before I make a purchasing error, I would love some great advice! Thanks!!!

You want something durable that's going to withstand the beating they'll likely get from mountain biking, so try to avoid something that's made of thinner/more meshy/running shoe-like material, but still breathable since you'll sweat, ride through creeks, etc. and you want your feet to be able to dry out and stay cool. These seem okay since they have that synthetic leather along with the mesh. I would also look for shoes that are grippy, that have a rubber outsole (as opposed to the plastic-y soles that road shoes tend to have) because you're going to want to be able to walk in them on trails and not slip. Seeing as you have platform pedals, you would probably be alright with any athletic shoe that has a good sole for now, but as you get more into biking you may want to switch to clipless pedals (which I highly recommend) so again, as long as your feet aren't going to slip off your pedals and you aren't going to slip while walking on rocks/trails/whatever, you should be good to go. These also seem nice since they have the laces and hook strap. The shoes I have now have two velcro lower straps and a ratchet top strap, but the velcro has worn down over the years so I think laces would be a good way to go. And like Re Wikstrom said, maybe order a couple sizes and try them on to see which fits the best and send the other pair back. Hope that helps. Happy riding!

Great shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm really happy with my Mavic Zoya shoes! They are comfy and cute! I tried them out at the gym today. My feet were happy, and so was I! I can't wait to take them out on the trail! I read other reviews that said to size down, so I went with a 7.5 instead of 8, which seems to be the perfect fit. Size down half a size!

My every day and long distance bike shoe

  • Gender: Female
  • Fit: Runs large

I ride my bike every day to get to work (40min ride) and long distance (100 miles) on weekends. These shoes are great. I can walk with them without making a click clock noise. I absolutely love them. They are comfortable and good looking. They look small what makes them look even better. I wear 7.5 shoe size and size 7 Mavic shoes is great.

Great Hike-a-Bike Mountain Bike Shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I recently decided to graduate from mountain biking with flat pedals to clipless pedals and spent a lot of time searching for hike-a-bike worthy shoes. I am extremely happy with these Mavic Zoyas. I typically wear a size 7.5 in most shoes but bought these in a 7.0 and I wouldn't be able to wear them any bigger.
They are comfortable and functional. In the summer we tend to ride our bikes to town, events, bars and having these shoes means that I don't have to click clack around when we get off our bikes and walk around these places.
As a newbie to the clipless scene these shoes feel secure and are easy to use.
I would definitely recommend these shoes!

Are the mavic zoya women's mtb shoes true...

Are the mavic zoya women's mtb shoes true to size?

Responded on

These shoes run a little large - I would recommend going a half size down from your usual shoe size.

I ended up going a full size down from 9.5 to 8.5. If you have the option I might recommend ordering two sizes to try on and return the one that doesn't work.
