Mavic Yksion Powerlink Tire - Clincher $0.00
Mavic's Yksion PowerLink Tire is designed for the rear of the bike and is a perfect complement to it front specific counterpart, the GripLink. Why put two different tires on the bike you may ask? That's because the front and rear tires perform their own role on the bike. The rear tire carries a greater percentage of the load of bike and rider than the front. Mavic created their tire sets to optimize performance and increase durability.
Mavic engineers gave the PowerLink a dual density rubber compound for the express purpose of reducing the rolling resistance and increasing energy transfer while maintaining superior cornering traction. The center strip of the tread uses harder 70a rubber. This gives the Yksion the hard wearing and fast rolling characteristics that Mavic intended. However, since safety and great performance depends on a good cornering grip, the rubber on the shoulders is a softer, far grippier 60a durometer.
The 127tpi casing is tough enough to fend off sidewall cuts and damage to the tire on coarse roads. To further maximize the puncture protection, Mavic layers a nylon breaker underneath the tread.
The Mavic Yksion PowerLink Tire is available in Black or White and is available in 700 x 23c only.

800 and Counting
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
I used the Yksion system (Grip and Powerlink) for a full summer and probably put close to 2500 miles on them before relegating the Powerlink to the trainer. They were flawless, I would highly recommend using them as a system like Mavic suggests. They wore fairly evenly and are on all of my training wheelsets. I'm 800 in on my current set.

I have had good luck with this in conjunction with the Grip
I've put a few thousand miles on these tires. No punctures, no flats of any sort. Grippy enough, never had the tires slip in the rain except perhaps 2-3times pedalling hard up steep switchback curves in the rain - could've been road debris fault, plus those are just bad conditions for any slick tire. First set lasted me about 2,000 miles and I saved the tires for future use as they were not totally burned out by any means (may use them in the future as trainer tires). Lightweight IMO, and the durability + traction were the strong points in my experience. I currently have 3 sets of wheels outfitted with these.
So far so good...
So far I've done a half season of racing on these tires (or rather, the griplink/powerlink combo), with no problems at all. They seem to grip well, and don't give me slow leaks like my last tires!

Do the Mavic Yksion tubulars have a removable stem core?
Can I run two Mavic/Yksion Powerlink tires...
Can I run two Mavic/Yksion Powerlink tires on my bike and how do these compare to Michelin's Lithium2 tires?
I have a buddy who's running two Griplink's on his bike (griplink is the front-specific tire) with no problems so far, but if Mavic makes a front and rear specific tire, why not follow their suggestions? The price isn't that different between the two.
I bought these tires to I replace my Schwalbe Zx Ultremos, I was skeptical being a Schwalbe loyal customer but decided to give these Mavic tires a chance. So far I've ridden over 500 miles and no problems what so ever. I passed on the savings to my peps in the peloton and they are also extremely satisfied.
With the Schwalbe's flats were a dime a dozen but I can honestly say that I am static that these tires are performing as well as they are. A few "minor" cuts but no flats, LOVING IT!
By the way, the powerlinks are recommended for the rear wheel and the Griplinks are for the front. I got them in the recommended set up and so far, I am very impressed.
I would recommend these 100%, and who can turn away from the great deal offered at REALCYCLIST.
Thanks REALCYCLIST for a great product and the lightning fast shipping....
Was excited about getting this set of tires hopefully as a fair and less expensive replacement for Gatorskins. Nope. 10 miles out on the first ride with this rubber, tire is ruined with a nice slice across it. Stuck on the side of the road in August in Florida. Ergh. Probably could have happened with the GS but, with thousands of miles gone by on GS and no such problem, I'm not going to scrimp anymore. 10 whole miles, it's going back. Hopefully the front one won't be as tragic.
