Item # MAV001W

Ideal for anyone who wants a high-quality helmet that doesn't break the bank, the Syncro shares technology with Mavic's Plasma and Plasma SLR. That means it received the same cranial mapping tests that ensure the helmet closely matches typical head shapes.

The interior shape of the helmet consequently flows along the curves of the skull. But, heads are still all fundamentally unique. So Mavic added the Ergo Hold System, which allows for as much as 6 centimeters of one-handed, on-the-fly size adjustment. For the final touches on fit perfection, as well as excellent moisture management, Mavic has included their Ergo Fit Pro Pad.

It might not seem like much when you look at it, but the Ergo Fit Pro Pad is a low-density open cell foam that wicks water from the skin and transports it to where it can evaporate quickly. The shell has a low-volume construction to reduce weight and includes a removable, lightweight visor and plugs.

The Mavic Syncro Helmet has reflective highlights for extra protection after dark. It is available in Small, Medium or Large and the colors Black/Red and White/Black.

  • Polystyrene foam
  • Ergo Hold fit adjustment system
  • Moisture-wicking Syncro Fit Pad
  • Adjustable and removable visor with plugs
  • Reflective details
  • 22 vents

Very good overall!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I like this helmet quite a bit. Over the years I have had a preference for Bell helmets (since 1989!) and have most recently owned a Limar 777.
This lid is a bit heavier than the Limar but on par with most of the mid range Bell's. The padding is fine, good ventilation and I do like the quick adjuster. Construction quality seems fine.
My only quibble is that the threads on the back of the Mavic tags on the side straps can be scratchy on the skin. This may not bother other people and I would recommend this lid at the price I got it.

Happy wit it

Solid helmet, lightweight, vents well, all I could ask for from a helmet.
The detachable visor is nice to have. The sizing does run a little small I would say. The adjustability is easy to adjust on the fly and is comfy. Definitely recommend if you can get it at a good price.

Unanswered Question

Can you confirm, is this the Mavic Synchro helmet version with Ergo hold retention (per your website) or Ergo Hold SL retention as per Mavic website? (interested in blue one) Note: pic of Ergo Hold SL from Mavic web.

Very nice helmet

I find it a bit uncomfortable compared to the Giro's I've owned. It seems to run small. This could just be me. I am always in between sizes.

This helmet literally saved my life

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm picky about helmets and like most go towards what looks good. I also bought this because it came in white and I ride at night. It ended up being perfect both in the hot Oklahoma summers and below freezing winter days. I often would even forget I was wearing it which shows how comfortable and light it felt. On Jan 20th 2015 it met its end when I was hit by and rolled over TWO cars. All I ended up with was a gash between where the helmet ends in the back and the adjuster piece is. To add to its awesomness it is in one piece and only has a couple scrapes. I will probably buy a cheap one from the LBS until I can save up the pennies for a new one. I highly recommend this helmet.

Check with Mavic, they might have a crash replacement policy. Worst thing that can happen...maybe they'll replace it at reduced or no cost.

Great Helmet, Great Price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't have the ability to shell out insane amounts of money for my cycling gear, so when I need to make a new purchase it's important that it has great functionality, solid price point, and some style. This helmet met all my needs. Very comfortable helmet, easy to use click tightening system and the straps hold in place very well. I ride in hot sunny So Cal and always felt properly ventilated up there. Also went for this because the trusted brand of Mavic and it is a great looking helmet as well. Looks better than a lot of the more high end ones out there. Very happy with it.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was looking for a black helmet to match my bike so that was my main criteria since i really consider all helmets to be alike. I was delightfully surprised that I no longer feel that way about helmets. The fit of this helmet was noticeable better than the specialized one I used before. When you put it on it stays right there. Further the helmet is so light that you forget you have it on. The straps are positioned so perfectly that there is movement on my face. It was bought for one reason and now it has set the bar for how I will judge helmets going forward.

Great Helmet-Size up 1 full S-M-L to fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was attracted to this helmet because of 2 factors: Ventilation and Styling!

1. The vents are large and numerous to provide a lot of air flow when riding.

2. The helmet looks great on the head and is form fitting with a single adjustment.

After reading other reviews, I went ahead and ordered the next size up because the helmets run smaller than listed. That was the right decision ... just subtract 3 cm from the chart to find your Correct size.

Adjusted Size Chart:

S (48 - 53cm)

M (51 - 56cm)

L (54 - 60cm)
