Description

Syncro safe.

The Mavic Syncro Helmet is the perfect option for anyone who wants a high quality helmet that's ready for all situations, but doesn't break the bank. Though the Syncro is on the entry-level of the Mavic options, you will never feel like you are getting any less of a helmet, especially when it comes to comfort. Mavic has lavished the same technology on the Syncro as it has its Plasma and Plasma SLR. They conducted cranial mapping tests to make sure that their helmet shapes closely match typical head shapes with pressure points and contours identified and accounted for. The interior shape of the helmet consequently flows along with the curves of the skull.

Since heads are still all fundamentally unique, Mavic added the Ergo Hold System, which allows for as much as 6 centimeters of one-handed, on-the-fly size adjustment. For the final touches on fit perfection, as well as excellent moisture management, Mavic has included their Ergo Fit Pro Pad. It might not seem like much when you look at it, but the Ergo Fit Pro Pad is a low-density open cell foam that wicks water from the skin and transports it to where it can evaporate quickly.

Mavic then took a hard look at what they could do for the exterior of the helmet. First, they fashioned a sleek profile that has a low volume construction to reduce weight. And with the thoughtful nod to those of you who will be using this helmet on the trails, Mavic has included a removable lightweight visor and plugs.

The Mavic Syncro Helmet has been kitted out with reflective highlights to give you that extra level of protection in case you are caught out after dark. It is available in Black/Red, Dark Silver Metallic and White Pearl. The Syncro comes in a Small, Medium or Large option.

  • Low-density, open-cell foam pulls moisture away while higher-density foam provides pressure-free support
  • Ergonomically designed, dual-density high grip dial for on the fly retention adjustments
  • Removable, lightweight visor and plugs for road and cross-country use

Perfect helmet for small heads

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The helmet has nice construction and quality. I have a very small head and tried on helmets from many different brands including Specialized, Bell, Giro.

I found the Mavic to fit smaller than all of them. Stylish design, it looks great from a side profile. No big mushroom fit. Lightweight. The click-style adjustment for tightening works well. I can get a snug 360-deg fit without slippage or causing headaches. Comes with low-profile visor which I like because I don't wear sunglasses.

I have been using this helmet for several months now. I'm glad to have found a brand that fits well for me, I've got my eyes on a Mavic Plasma or Plasma SLR for my next one.

My only gripe with the helmet is the straps don't quite clear my ears. I'm talking about the part where it comes together in a V. It's not bothersome when riding.

Breezy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a tough, sorta heavy, but extremely breathable helmet. Even the little extra weight it has is no match for how nice and cool it keeps my head. It is so efficient that way, that i am going to have to buy a cover, or a really nice hat for the winter rides!

Nice Helmet... but runs small

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift

I bought the helmet because I loved the way it looked and the sales price was just right. Unfortunately, my head is apparently too wide and the helmet didn't fit. My wife's head, which is the same circumference as mine, isn't as roundish so it fit her fine. The helmet looks good, comfortable and she likes it.

Helmet is great but definitely runs small so should order size up.

Is this still covered by the warranty?

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was just turning the knob to tighten it and it snapped.

Is this still covered by the warranty?

Price is nice :)

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this for a family member new to cycling - great entry level helmet. Has good air channels for a chill head, like the white - as long days in the sun reflect rather than absorb the sun ;) I agree with the other reviewers in regards to the small sizing. If you are a medium, size up to a large. For those in between or close to a change in size, there are three small adjustment tabs that you may further alter the fit of the helmet ( see pic) this allows for the helmet to fit lower on your thinker :) Only four stars due to the size inaccuracy that's on Mavics plate.

Price is nice :)

Great helmet with some quirks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Syncro has worked out very well for me, i purchased the Large in black and have had few problems for the past 4 months with it. Seems to be well made, the matte black is a nice touch. The biggest complaint is the straps are very short and don't allow for much wiggle room in adjustments. It does land a bit on the heavy side but as a beginner cyclist this didn't worry me much. Side note, the cycling glasses i use don't fit in the vents, they have straight back arms and fall out easily.

My head measures 22.75" around which...

My head measures 22.75" around which suggests a medium helmet? Correct?

Go with the Large :)

Not bad, but small

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift

I wear a medium in Giro, Bell, and Lazer, and figured this helmet would be the same. This helmet just barely fits. I pretty much max out the think. I actually bought it for my little brother who has a slightly smaller head, so it works out. Besides the fit, its a pretty nice helmet.

Love it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a very nice helmet at a really good price. Picked up the black helmet for mtn biking and is very light weight and allows for maximum breathing. Also has a removable visor for road biking as well, and is low profile and has a great look. My only complaint is the stickers starting peeling off after the first couple times of use, so I took the rest of the stickers off and use goo gone to get rid of the gum.

Great Helmet!..

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the fit, euro-style and finish of the helmet. I myself after reading all the posts, I went one size up as I normally wear a medium road Bell helmet, so I ordered the large and the fit was excellent. My head size was 58 cm so I was in between the medium and large, to play it safe and after some research I went with the large (1 size up). The visor was not attached to the helmet when purchased (a plus), so the helmet is set for road and you can clip the visor later if you wish. When the helmet arrived, the fit was great and I did not have to use the additional padding (provided) to adjust the fit. Overall, great helmet and at a great price now.

Strange straps

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ordered 1 size up and the dome fit fine, but the straps were odd. In order to wear the helmet comfortably, I have to loosen them to within 1 inch of their maximum. They also have strange plastic pieces in them that prevent me from adjusting the ear triangle far enough, so the straps rub against my ears when I ride. It's not particularly uncomfortable, but I think it's strange because most helmets add on plenty of strap to keep it highly adjustable.
The dome also sits high, but snugly on my head. My sister looked at it and said that she didn't think it would protect the back of my head very well. I don't know if any of the helmets protect the back of your head, but I'd prefer one that does. I know people usually pitch forward over the handlebars, but if I get rear ended by a car, the most important part of my body to protect would be the bottom of my skull and the top of my spine.
I guess it must be fine if it passed safety standards...

Great Helmet-Size up 1 full S-M-L to fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was attracted to this helmet because of 2 factors: Ventilation and Styling!
1. The vents are large and numerous to provide a lot of air flow when riding.
2. The helmet looks great on the head and is form fitting with a single adjusting knob.

After reading other reviews, I went ahead and ordered the next size up because the helmets run smaller than listed. That was the right decision ... just subtract 3 cm from the chart to find your Correct size.

M (51 - 56cm)
L (54 - 60cm)

Solid helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The thing that attracted me the most about this helmet was its style and ventilation. I love the extra venting and it has been very useful on those really hot days. The style is really unique but I find that it fits slightly awkward. Mainly i seems there is a little bit of pressure on the front of your head. I've adjusted the tightness and fitted it on in several ways but over a long ride I feel a little helmet sore which I don't experience from my other helmets.

Great!

Looks stylish. Feels fantastic. Light weight. Breathable. Overall this is a wonderful helmet.

Stylish without having to break the bank

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

They definitely fit small. I had to get a L on my asian size head. They fit very nice especially with the adjustment strap retention system. Very lightweight and doesn't feel like anything is on your head. I've tried on Giros before but I would think the Giro fits nicer on my head, but this helmet has a cleaner look and a slicker design IMO. They are similar to the Plasma and SLR models except the vent holes are smaller on this one. It didn't seem to bother me at all.

I knock one star off because they fit small, but overall pretty comfortable for me. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Comfy and breathable!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this helmet for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it! We had to return the size small for a size medium, but the helmet fits pretty close to normal sizing standards. With great ventilation and well-placed padding, this helmet rated high on comfort!

Great buy.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The fit on this helmet is incredible! Stays cool even in the 90 degree humid summers here in the south. Quality is top notch too. You will not go wrong with this helmet.

Great helmet

I got this on clearance last fall and I'm not sorry I did. It fit great, has good ventilation and is pretty lightweight. All helmets have to meet the same safety requirements, regardless of price. I find it difficult then, to justify spending nearly twice the cost of this helmet for some other ones. Weight and fit are the differences between really cheap helmets and really expensive ones. My size large weighs 358g. A $200+ helmet might weigh a little less than 300g, but my head is huge , so I could care less! The adjustment system in the back and the straps works really well, and the buckle being off to the side is a great design. I would recommend this to anyone looking for the next step up from a basic helmet design.

Comfortable with excellent ventilation

I bought the Mavic Syncro mainly because I liked the look of the ventilation. After my first hot ride in this helmet the function of the vents far outside the looks. The ventilation over the forehead is out of this world! No more overheating while climbing canyons.
I did notice the helmet fits slightly more snug than your 'average' helmet. I got the medium and it fits just perfectly but I feel like I could have gone with the large and been happy. Well worth the coin.
