It's rare that we see laces on any cycling shoe these days. But these aren't just any laces. You don't have to tie the lace to hold it in place, using a cam instead. The extra lace doesn't hang loose, waiting to be caught by a chain ring or branch, but tucks away into its own pouch. And the lace itself isn't wimpy, stretchy cotton, but sturdy, unstretchable Aramid fiber. The Mavic Switchback shoe borrows the quick lace system from Salomon's all-terrain shoes, and it's a great use. The lace slides easily through the metal eyelets, keeping pressure equal across the top of your foot.

The Mavic Switchback is an all-mountain shoe. But it's more than that. It's a versatile mountain bike shoe for anyone who wants a little extra protection. The ContraGrip rubber sole extends up to protect the toes. The Softshell upper is a breathable, highly water-resistant covering that will allow sweat to evaporate but keep your foot dry when romping through puddles. The upper is reinforced with protective panels that do double duty by making the upper virtually unstretchable.

The sole is a tuned fiberglass composite, making the shoe stiff for pedaling and flexible for walking. Ideal for adventure racers.

Inside the shoe is the Ergo Fit 2D insole. It's a two-density insole with a high-density heel cradle. The insole is covered in an anti-bacterial material that resists stink. The foot is protected at the top of the shoe with a lightly-padded soft shell tongue, which minimizes lace pressure while allowing perspiration to escape.

The Mavic Switchback shoe comes in sizes 4.5-12 in whole and half sizes (37.33 to 47.33 in Euro sizing). The color is Grey with Black. Weight (for a size 8.5 shoe) is 415g per shoe.

Highly recommend to everyone

Good for practically any weather conditions. Don't soaking easily in rain.Quite comfortable for my rather wide feet, I've tried several boots within last year. Size is about truthful to the label.
