While the Stratos Shorts are an established hit with trail riders around the globe, the addition of rain-ready materials only makes them that much better and more capable. Called the Mavic Stratos H2O Men's Shorts, the all-weather shorts will quickly become your new go-to pair once you feel how comfortable, durable, and impervious they are.

Mavic's Stratos H2O shorts build on its standard models with the inclusion of Mavic's Trail Tech Plus fabrics, now combined with Rain Tech ST and Dura Rain panels. With these materials in tow, the shorts create the right blend of abrasion-resistance, stretch, and water-resistance to take on almost any ride. The shorts' cut is built to stretch and move freely, which complements the Stratos' semi-baggy profile in order to allow a total freedom of motion. By combining a semi-loose fit with the same stretch of an all-mountain baggy, Mavic has ensured that you'll avoid snagging a saddle or having the fabric bunch on you while pedaling, all while keeping you shielded from the elements.

Also preventing short migration are wide hook-and-loop closures located at each hip. Additionally, this adjustment system allows you to fine tune the fit at the waist. For storage, there are bonded zippers over the pockets on each thigh, and the pockets are just big enough for essentials like keys, phone, and a few gels. In terms of ventilation, Laser cut Micro Vents at the hips aid in both moisture management and in keeping the ride from getting too hot and sweaty. Finally, while these are shell shorts, they're also able to be teamed up with Mavic's Stratos liner for added comfort and support in the form of a chamois (available separately).

The Mavic Stratos H2O Shorts are available in the color Black only, and in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large.

Decent but run big

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I like the material but the waist runs big. No adjustable waist is a huge fail and the elastic is weak. I don't care for knickers either. This material in pants with an adjustable waist would be ace. I have a 33" waist large is too big medium would of been better

Good Shorts, Poor durability

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought these shorts a few months ago looking forward to being able to ride in the slop up in the PNW over winter months. After just 4 rides, significant wear was shown in the rear saddle area. After 12 rides, a hole has appeared in the rear saddle area.

Very disappointed. I wanted them to work because they fit great, aside from not being whatsoever durable.

For a pair of $90 shorts, the quality is a total joke.

Not what I was expecting

I love this brand and the materials are top quality but this particular pair of shorts is knicker length, which was not disclosed in the description and specs provided by CC. It would be helpful if the inseam length was disclosed as the website photo is misleading. I am 5'-9" and these shorts sit about at the top of my calves when I stand. They have a bit of "Cholo" look, all that's missing are some white knee socks.

Best pair of wet weather mtb shorts I've ever owned. In fact I own 2 pair of them and I may get a third because when these are gone, Mavic's replacement for them is far inferior. The over the knee length is just right for going over knee pads when the trail gets gnarly, but the waist size runs big so get one size smaller than you might normally get. The medium fits my 32" waist fairly well, but that brings up these shorts only weakness and why I can't give them 5 or even 6 stars......They have no drawstring or other method for customizing your fit. I had a professional seamstress put drawstrings in mine and now they're perfect, but you shouldn't have to do that on a garment that retails at $180.
At this price however these shorts are a steal and now they are my go-to shorts for 3 out of the 4 seasons that we ride in up here in the Pacific NW.
