The Mavic Rush Shoes have many of the features of the top of the line Mavic Fury, but at a price and comfort level that is preferred by many cross-country riders.

Not everyone wants to pay for or put up with carbon soles in their cross-country shoes. Cost can be an issue. Why spend big bucks on shoes that will inevitably get trashed in the mud and dirt. Another reason to steer clear of carbon is the stiffness of the sole. While a big plus for transferring 100% of your leg power to the pedals, it can be a drawback when shouldering the bike and hiking up a steep, slippery slope since it doesn't flex easily.

The sole on these Rush Shoes is nylon with glass fiber reinforcement. This allows for flex at the toe so you can hike and climb over rocky ledges without feeling unnatural. At the same time, the area from the cleat to the heel is plenty stiff enough to transmit power to the pedals. Like the Fury Shoes, the Rushs use Mavic's Contragrip outsole. We've worn lots of shoes and it's the best thing we've worn. It's a sticky durable rubber and is beyond compare when treading technical, rocky terrain. Up front, there is a toe cap that both protects your toes and adds durability to the shoe. The upper has the familiar ratcheting buckle with two Velcro straps, forgoing the more complicated cable-and-Velcro system of the Fury.

Inside the shoe is the Ergo Fit 2D insole. It's a two-density insole with a high-density heel cradle. The insole is covered in an anti-bacterial material that resists stink. The foot is protected at the top of the shoe with a micro vent tongue. It's perforated for ventilation and lightly padded to give a little cush, but not so much that your foot has room to move around when pulling up.

The Mavic Rush Shoes come in sizes 7 - 12.5 in whole and half sizes. The shoes come with removable toe spikes. There are two color options -- Black or White. Weight (for a size 8.5 shoe) is 375g per shoe.

Mavic Rush Shoes

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

These are a really nice pair of Mountain Bike shoes....true to size. I've used them a lot and now they have the miles on them to write a review. I've had
the BOA system type shoes but they have there weakness and eventually fail. So here you are with a still a great looking pair of shoes that you paid a lot for but the closure system is shot. Sure they have a repair kit but if the little nipple that the screw goes into is broken there worthless. Enough of the BOA system....these shoes are now my go to shoe. The ratchet closure on these shoes works really well and if the strap breaks you can go though Mavic for a replacement. I use CrankBrothers pedals and cleats with my bike and the combination of shoes and pedals work great. Very comfortable in all ways and even on those long rides.

hi, i would ride/race mtb with these - but i would also want it to perform as a cyclocross race shoe. Anyone doing cross with these? are they a decent "runner" shoe?

No but I use these with my road bike....using CrankBrother pedals they work great.

Great MTB Shoe

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I had these shoes in my mind for a while and decided to make the purchase and they had been awesome since the first day I used them. They are true to size, comfortable enough, the ratchet system simple to use, not so stiff as others MTB shoe, you can walk easily in these. Literally thanks to the ventilation in the front of the shoes you can feel the air entering your feet, this help keep your feet cool in hot or warmer conditions.

Great All Around Shoe

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

Just started using these shoes since ordering them a few weeks ago. They have done great so far. With key features including a burly outsole and a tight ratcheting system, this is a solid shoe that doesn't make you take a second mortgage to be able to afford them.

Good to know. I'am glad I made the purchase.I was using the BOA system and that broke so I'am back to the ratchet system this seems to work for me,less problems.

Great so far

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I wanted a shoe for cyclocross, MTB, and charity rides; this has been great. Performs well, and fit well from the git-go. Will buy again when needed.

Great Affordable Shoe

I've enjoyed these shoes. They are comfortable and perform well. I'm not much or a racer but I do ride a lot of miles and these shoes have held up great. I run these with spd cleats and they seem plenty stiff to me. The shoes also work great for hiking through patches of snow when pushing the season in Utah. I broke the release lever on one of my shoes and Mavic was kind enough to send me a replacement. They latch securely and breathe well enough.

    Look good, work great

Being a more of a weekend warrior and less of a racer, I just could not warrant dropping the money on the Fury's. But I do not want to discredit these at all. The Rush's are plenty stiff , as well as being really comfortable in those hike and bike situations. In conclusion, I love them and recommend them.
