Just got a pair of these. Comfortable out of the box. But after about 5 miles riding I'm getting a good deal of pain on the outside of my foot up to the ankle. Is this the shoe? Is it a fit issue?

Awesome shoes!!

Bought these when they were on sale, last summer. Best shoe purchase I've made in a while!

Very lightweight, and very comfortable. You almost forget they're on your feet, once you start riding in them. They're nicely padded, and don't move around on your foot.

The ratchet works well, and the velcro straps stay put after you adjust them.

I bought the same size as my running shoes, and the fit is spot on.

The only thing I don't like, is the white rubber toe guard, has turned a little bit yellow, from the AZ sun. I can't fault the shoe for this, as the sun out here ruins everything,

Nice shoe

Just got my shoes. These are true to size, but, they are definitely narrow and low volume. So if you have narrow and or flat feet (as I do), these are the perfect shoe for you. Seem to be pretty comfortable, but will update after logging some miles.

Update: I've ridden a couple hundred miles in these shoes and they are amazing. Perfect fit with great power transfer via carbon fiber sole.

Amazing; seriously

I'm stunned at how good these shoes are. I got lucky and nabbed a black 10.5 from BT. First of all, they look awesome. Second, they feel great on my feet during rides; nice and form fitting w/ no hotspots. Third, these are my first carbon sole (upgraded from a Specialized shoe); they feel so much stiffer under my feet. I didn't realize what I was missing. Not sure if they really make me any faster or not but they definitely make you feel faster. If they have your size, get them in whatever color is available.

Great shoes

I'm NOT a racer, just a hobby/health rider; not competitive.

I bought a pair of the Zxellium Ultimates a few months back and really like those shoes a lot. Those are all black, causing me to worry about heat in the summer months.

I spotted some of the white/black Pro's on BT for under a bill and figured I get a backup/summer pair of shoes. I can't believe the quality of shoe for the price.

There's only a hand full of differences that I can see between the Pro Road and the Zxellium Ultimates.
1) The Pro's don't have a shoe bag... no big deal.
2) The Pro's have a normal detached tongue (like most tennis shoes), and the Zxellium Ultimate's tongue is only detached on one side; the end result is that Pro is easier to get on and off IMO.
3) The material seems a little harder or more plastic like on the Zxellium.
4) The strap nearest the toe does not have as much adjustability in the Pro model as the Zx Ult.
5) A HUGE weight difference of, get ready: 7-8 grams per shoe with full hardware installed (by my scale).

If someone was deciding between the ZX, ZX Ultimate, or the Pro Road, I would get the Pro Road hands down. That is, unless that someone is a racer and real competitive; I don't know how important the 16 grams would be.

Responded on

Yes, a full carbon sole. It appears to be very similar to the Zxellium Ultimate that I also have... probably thicker on the Pro.

great shoes

Got a pair of these from Bonktown about a week ago and did 60 mi in them on Sunday. These are the most comfortable shoes I've had so far, they're like wearing slippers to ride in (but with a read stiff soles). Highly recomended (unless you have wide feet, then they might be a little snug).

Responded on

kind of rude to mention a competitor's website here

Nice Shoes!!

Not much too say, other than this is a great pair of shoes. Ordered a 10.5, per the sizing chart, and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable, not hot-spots, or weird feeling ares within the shoe. Speedplay cleats bolted right up, and the grid helps align the cleats symmetrically for both shoes.

Nice venting, don't even notice they're on my feet most of the time, and that's pretty good for living in the AZ desert! The insole, and padding around the opening is nice, too.

Hey, Thanks for the post. Are your feet narrow, wide or just straight up "D"? My feet run a bit narrow - which is a real problem for buying shoes online - so, was wondering if you might be a bit "narrow'ish".

Responded on

Hey, I have the narrowest feet in the world...I have to. If you ahve narrow feet you'll like these. They could even be narrower, but these are right along the lines of standard (by that I mean 'not Megas') in width and could still be narrower for me. I will say that these are some incredibly comfortable shoes.

Responded on

Maybe I should proof read before clicking "add comment". Anyway, what I was trying to say is these are similar in width to standard Sidi width (Genius's for example), so great for narrower feet.

Are the sizes listed UK or US?

I wear a size 10.5 in US sizes. Ordered this shoe in a 10.5, per the sizing chart provided, and it fits perfectly.
