Mavic Equipe Tights - Men's $149.95
Comfort and warmth without restraint.
While many of us here at the office appreciate bib tights for cold-weather riding, there are some who prefer a pair of bib-free tights. Reasons for this generally revolve around personal comfort. Tights feel less constrictive, especially if you have a long torso, and they have no insulated bibs to interfere with your preferred upper-body winter gear. (We take our layering very seriously.) The Mavic Equipe Tights add another potential preference point to a bib-free kit: there is no chamois included. This means you can wear them over your favorite chamois-equipped shorts.
The Equipe Tights consist of mated panels of two fabrics: Warm Tech and Teflon coated Super Roubaix. The former is the base fabric while panels of the latter are strategically distributed. The result is extra warmth in the areas that suffer most from cold, keeping you comfortable in conditions ranging from 32 degrees to 54 degrees Fahrenheit without sacrificing general stretch and comfort across the entire garment. If you're cycling in conditions that merit these tights, then you're likely not the type of rider who lets the crankset spin itself, so it's inevitable that you'll work up a sweat. The Warm Tech fabric's soft, brushed lining manages moisture, pulling it away from your skin and keeping you dry and warm between intervals.
True to the Equipe's theme, the fit is tight but comfortable. The non-abrasive flatlock seams map your body's contour and motion, so the panels move and stretch intuitively with you. This, combined with the aforementioned soft lining of the Warm Tech fabric, alleviates the chafing and discomfort that other tights might inflict on your legs. This may be small consolation when your nose, ears, and any other exposed extremities are beet-red and numb from the cold, but it's one less irritant to worry about.
The tights also feature Ergo Zip technology. Developed in partnership with the outdoor veterans at Arc'teryx, Ergo Zip bends the course of the zipper in order to further reduce irritation and keep pressure off of sensitive spots. Silicon ankle grips keep the tights from riding up, and reflective detailing makes you more visible to motorists and other cyclists in low-light situations.
The Mavic Equipe Tights - Men's are available in Black in five sizes ranging from Small to XX-Large.
