Great piece!

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is my first piece of Mavic apparel and I'm very impressed. I love the fit - snug enough that it's not flapping in the wind, yet I have plenty of room to layer up underneath. I usually wear a UA thermal mock turtleneck base layer (and a PI wind barrier shirt over that when it's really cold) and I've stayed warm when temps were in the 30s despite being a cold rider. Fave features include the extra long stretchy cuffs, the mesh-backed forearm vents (they really work!), the zippered rear pocket, and the asymmetrical chest zipper, which is easy to pull up/down on the bike and because it's offset at the top, it doesn't smack you in the chin when you're in the drops. I don't use the chest pocket except as another vent but it's big enough for a cell phone or wallet. My only gripe: the neck is a little loose and there's no way to tighten it down so when it's really windy the chill gets in. Otherwise, highly recommend. 5'11" 160lbs 30" waist 38.5" chest - size M fits perfectly.

my favorite jacket

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I have bought 4 cycling jackets in the past 2 years and this works the best for my cold weather rides, down to 20*F even with a couple layers underneath. One of my favorite features is the little left chest pocket that I tuck my camelback bite valve in and that prevents it from freezing. (blow back the water in hose to the resevoir) I did find that a cell phone in the middle rear pocket did condense a bit of sweat, but that wasn't a problem in the rear side pocket. The only thing missing though is a zippered rear pocket. I was afraid I'd lose my phone hopping over big logs and jumps, but I didn't. I am 5'7", 150 lbs with a 38" chest and size medium was perfect with 3 layers, a little loose with 1 layer but I'll take that versatility.

Buy this jacket

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I live in Eugene, and I have had this jacket since September. It is the best riding jacket i have ever owned and is worth paying full retail for.

Ventilates nicely with the arm zippers, offset zipper is great when layering. Pockets hold plenty.

Typically use under 50 F. I run cold, but I wear an icebreaker 240 baselayer when in the 40's, or a 320 when it is colder. When it is in the 30's I will wear an icebreaker base layer, a PI PRO thermo jersey, and the jacket along with a balaclava. (Though the thermo jersey is tight in the neck even by itself, but that is PI's fault.

Will wear a gore rain jacket over the Echappee when it is really raining.

I am 160 right now, 37.5" chest, 5'9.5 with a short torso and the jacket us size medium is fitted but fits perfectly.

Fit was great. Nice and tight.

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this jacket for my husband. The fit is nice and tight which helps keep him warm. He also looks great in it.
