Light as you want, burly as you need.

The Mavic CrossMax SX Wheel combines the low weight you need to crush a climb and the stiff feel and durability you need to pin the descent. Mavic designed these wheels for all-mountain bikes that routinely get pushed into the light freeride realm. The rear wheel includes an ITS-4 pawl hub with 7-degree engagement for instant traction whenever you need it. UST compatibility lets you run tubeless tires for lighter weight, better traction, and reduced pinch-flatting.

Is the rear wheel really goes for only 90g's?

Responded on

90 would be sick! Of course that's wrong, we'll get corrected ASAP. Thanks for the heads up.

The rear is 930 grams.

The wheels have been great despite some negative reviews of 08 models on MTBR. I weight 250lbs and run these over some nasty rocky trials and 3-5 ft drops and these wheels have stayed true and track great. Time will tell how well they hold up as they only have about 60 trail miles on them so far, but i could not be happier with a wheels set.

Solid and light are not oxymorons here! Tracks like a beast. Tubeless feature is a must. Oh, and need I mention the gray powder coat is suhweet? Upgrade now!

Why don't you guys stock this wheel in the 12mm x 135mm rear? I've heard they're sweet freeride wheels and I would like to pick up a pair, but QR is just not gonna cut it! Let me know if you are planning on carrying them or if it is not an option. Thanks.

These are the 12mm rear wheels. The rears can run either the standard 9mm QR or you can pop the inserts out and run your 12mm bolt on. Its the best of both worlds.

I bought them it is easy to pop out the inserts for the qr and use a 12mm axle just wish they hade a 10mm axle adapter so i could use a Hadley axle.
They are stiff, light and just look awesome. i used an Atomlab 12-10mm reducer axle to fit them on my 09 Gruitr. Went from 32lbs with Atomlab pimplites to 29.11lbs and that is with tubes. If i used the qr and tubeless it would be even lighter.

Best Purchase Made!!

These wheels are the shiz!!! I purchased them because I was thrashing the wheels that came stock on my Yeti 575. I needed a change and these wheels are just what the Doctor ordered. by Changing to these wheels with a 20mm thru axel hub coupled with a Fox 36 Talas Fork I actually shed a little over a pound or so off of my old fork/wheel setup. Now you may say "Why do I need a 20mm thru axle and a Longer travel fork" well I will tell you why... the wheels are bomb proof for freeride/all mountain riding.. the 20mm thru axel hub rolls over anything and when you add the longer travel fork to soak up all of the Gnarlyness... well that just makes you have a way sicker bike.. be able to go faster, not have to deal with falts beacuse of the tubeless capability and most importantly... beat your friends on the downhill for bragging rights.. Single best investment to make your bike lighter and better!!!
