Item # MAV0112

Description

Still the standard.

Mavic put the Crossmax SLR Wheel on a diet for 2009 and dropped weight to 1520g for a pair without sacrificing a speck of performance. To keep up with fork trends, Mavic made the front hub compatible with both 9mm quick-release and 15mm through-axle designs. The Crossmax SLR also features full UST tubeless compatibility to save you more weight when you pick your tire.

My weight fluctuates between 190 and 200 lbs. I want to know if the Mavic Crossmax wheelset is sturdy enough for my weight. I don't jump or get too crazy, but I like to go downhill as fast as my old ass allows me. I love the Mavic wheelsets but want to make sure to get something that will hold up and not be wimpy.

There is definitely a front/rear wheel combo that will work for your 26" wheeled bike.

If you want the wheels to swap right over, first check and see if you need the Centerlock version to accommodate your current brakes, usually Shimano. Otherwise the pretty standard 6 bolt version will work just fine.

Then you'll need to choose between 20mm axle version or the 9/15mm QR version depending on the for you're using. Chances are you will need the 9/15mm front wheel.

Feel free to post some pictures if your concerned with these educated guesses. It will be easy to tell with a couple pics of the bike.

HI, THERE THIS IS THE PRICE FOR THE SET 2 WHEELS OR JUST ONE, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SHIP THIS TO FLORIDA?..THX

Hey Andres,

No, these don't come in pairs, just singles for the price listed. Initially you could've picked up the front and rear but we only have fronts anymore. As for shipping them to FL just depends on the method you choose, were usually pretty quick though.

Hi there, I really need some help on the one. I really want this wheelset, only problem is I am unsure whether they will fit my cannondale, only in the front because I have a lefty. Here is my bike and specs

http://www3.cannondale.com/bikes/09/cusa/model-9FS2.html

Is there a chance this will work. I assume I have to still use the lefty hub, right?

Advice?

Thanks
Steve

dude, you are looking at this wheelset for a cannonball lefty?

Thts like putting BBS wheels on a ford pinto and hoping it will perform better.

i dont mean to be harsh, save your money and buy a modern bike with a decent component set, you will be much happier.

I weigh 210 lbs. in full race kit. I am building a Titus Moto Lite from the frame up and want a good, light weight wheel set with a 15mm thru front. Is this wheel a good choice considering my weight and hard riding style?

Responded on

I would say no. These are lower spoke count wheels with a narrow rim. If you want a good wheelset there are plenty of options. Try to find something with 32 spoke and about 28mm wide rims. The moto lite is an all mountain capable bike, treat it like one.

I have a similar bike and I built my wheels with Dt swiss 5.1 rims, 32spoke These are really burly wheels that I have not even had to true them in 3 years.

Does this wheels fit my scott scale 50 2008 mod.???? Or what whells do you/anyone recommend for that bike.. I have 26" alexrims on, but they are crapy.. Want wheels without tube.

Responded on

These wheels have a larger front axle. You need 9mm front and rear. Check these out; http://www.hucknroll.com/mountainbike/MAV0008/Mavic-Crossmax-SL-Wheel-or-Wheelset.html

They are 9mm front and rear and can be run with UST tubeless tires.

Bombproof XC wheels

These are some of the toughest and fastest XC wheels around. I'm 155 pounds and run them tubeless. At the beginning of the race season I got a flat spot in them when I tagged a rock. The wheels stayed straight and I finished the season on them including the E100 in Park City, Utah. Seems like Mavic fixed the cassette drag problem (the earlier versions of the freehub would gum up and back your chain up when you attempted to coast). Great wheels. Highly recommended.
