Mavic Cosmic Elite Road Wheelset - Clincher $0.00
Mavic's Ksyrium wheels are our best sellers by a country mile, but from time to time, people express interest in an equally affordable wheelset more focused on aerodynamics -- a coach class Cosmic Carbone, so to speak.
With the priority of aerodynamics in mind, Mavic makes the Cosmic Elite Wheelset. While the Ksyrium Elite front wheel has a rim depth of 22mm, the Cosmic Elite is a deeper 30mm, giving it a substantial advantage in a time trial or breakaway situation. One other important aerodynamic measure is the fact that the Cosmic Elite uses the same ultra-flat stainless steel spokes as the Cosmic Carbone SL.
Even though the Cosmic Elite is priced to sell, you still get technology like Mavic's UB Control and SUP treatments --giving you a perfectly machined braking surface and welded/machined rims, ensuring consistent and reliable day in and day out performance. The Mavic Cosmic Elite Wheelset is available in clincher only. They have 20 spokes on the front, 20 spokes on the rear. The front spokes are radial, the rear spokes are 2-cross on the drive-side and radial on the non-drive side. They are available to fit both Shimano/SRAM and Campagnolo freehubs. They come standard with Mavic aluminum quick release skewers and a bearing adjustment tool.
This wheelset is part of Mavic's MP3 extended warranty program. The acronym stands for Mavic Product Protection Plan, and it provides you with two years of almost unlimited no-fault protection from Mavic. More details can be found on the MP3 website. Please note that MP3 coverage must be purchased within 5 days of the date that you receive your wheels.Contact one of our customer service representatives for the retailer and product codes that you'll need to register your wheels on the Mavic MP3 site. You'll also need the serial numbers that you'll find on your wheels. The cost for this coverage is approximately 8% of the retail cost of the wheels.
The Mavic Cosmic Elite Clincher Wheelset comes with Mavic's Yksion Comp tires and is available with the option of a Shimano or Campagnolo 11-speed-compatible freehub body.
- 30mm alloy rim provides aero benefits without the carbon price tag
- Bladed spokes improve aerodynamics
- Alloy braking surface for consistent, reliable stopping power

What is the width of the tires that comes with this wheelset (25 mm)?
According to Mavic it looks like these come with 23c tires.
Spacer for 10spd are included???
Hey Mariana G,
These wheels do come with the spacers to run a 10 speed cassette.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me directly.
Love these wheels. Replaced my original Bontragers, on Madone 5.2SL, and now, hardly ever have to retrue wheels. Best combination of strength, weight, aero, and price, I have seen. Problem: My Rear was stolen, and it's hard to find just a Rear, at a decent sale price. Can Competitive Cyclist make this happen?
Will Mavic Cosmic Elite Road Wheelset - Clincher work wih 9 speed 7700 dura ACE or is it only 10 and 11 speed. I know I will need a spacer if it is compatable
let me know
What is the rim width?
Am I able to order these without the decals?
These wheels only come with decals. They can be removed but its very difficult with this brand.
Thanks Adam, I have some kysirums for training wheels, and I've tried to remove the decals, and its just a pain, I am now due for another set of training wheels and i was hoping to get these without... Oh well. Thanks!
The decals on my cosmic elites came off easy, real nice and cleanly removed in two pieces with no residue. They must have responded to consumer feedback.
Can the rear hub be modified/re-spaced to...
Can the rear hub be modified/re-spaced to fit a bike (aluminum frame) with 126mm dropouts?
These are designed for 130mm rear. You might be able to make them work as 2mm of flex per side isn't out of the question. It would be hit or miss though.
Are these wheels strong enough for a BIG...
Are these wheels strong enough for a BIG guy? 20 spokes front and rear??I suspect the rim design adds strength but as a clydesdale I am concerned about the low spoke count?
Please advise or make a recommendation?
Mavic honors their 2-year manufacturer's warranty on all their wheels with no rider weight limit. I'm not sure how big you are but since you typed BIG, I'm guessing well over the 200 pound mark. You are right that the deep rims will be plus for a rider your size, but you might encounter the occasional broken spoke (Mavic does not usually consider broken spokes a warranty issue)
If you would like to talk about wheel options for Clydesdales, you can give me a call at 801-736-6396 ext 4076 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mark, I bought a set of these wheels & I tip the scale at 218lbs. I ride in the city ie.. pot holes, rail tracks, curbs. I haven't had any issues. They still role true and brake well. A really good wheel & a great value price...
Mark, I'm 6ft 6in 280lbs and I ride these wheels. They are built to take a beating. I've yet to true these wheels. Once you get them up to speed they roll very well.
Fits an 87 Bianchi
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
I bought this wheelset after months of searching for a set that would fit an old (1987) Bianchi roadbike. Everywhere that I went in towm, people told me that I would have to widen the back forks of my bike?so I decided to buy these, along with an 8-speed freewheel (the old campy derailler is good for a 7-speed), and it fit the frame without making any adjustments other than the limits of my derailler. Took it for the first ride, and I have to say, these wheels are absolutely amazing. Very little road noise, comfortable, quick and exceptionally responsive. Feels great on both long and short rides, and handles well in gusty crosswinds?rims aren't the greatest in the rain though.
The rims were perfectly true when I got them?a surprise I haven't found with many wheels that I've bought beforehand. I will definitely be keeping these for a while.
Is the hub only compatible with 11 speed?...
Is the hub only compatible with 11 speed? Will a 10 speed cassette fit as well, or need spacers?
You should be good to go with 9, 10, or 11-speed systems :) With a 10-speed Shimano cassette, you need to use the Mavic specific spacer (that should be included) For 11-speed, remove the spacer.
Excellent value and spinability
