Comete Rear Disc Wheel - Tubular

If you watch the Tour coverage every year, you'll recognize the Mavic Comete Road Rear Disc Wheel. It's been on stage winning bikes for as long as we can remember. As such, its longstanding (and often) selection by Pro teams for the races that matter is a testament to its steadfast performance, and no rear wheel has seen so much action in the professional peloton for so long.

The Comete Road Disc has asymmetrical lenticular walls that are shaped to reduce drag to an absolute minimum. While there are some discs that are arguably more modern with more complicated shapes that are certainly enticing, the Comete's lenticular shaping is as fast as it gets through the air at lower yaw angles. And this shaping all but eliminates any question of fitment inside your frame, no matter how the chainstays are shaped.

Mavic builds the Comete Disc in multiple pieces. The side panels are created by sandwiching a structural honeycomb between inside and outside skins of uni-directional carbon fiber. This makes it super stiff and function in a compressive mode as the structure for the wheel between the rim and hub. The honeycomb core also keeps it lightweight for rapid acceleration. The rim is aluminum. It shares the same SUP welded construction and UB Control braking surface as Mavic's high end road wheels. In fact, it also has Mavic's Exalith treatment on the brake track. This gives you the best braking performance and control of any disc rear wheel currently on the market. The Comete also benefits from the same ultra smooth QRM bearings that Mavic uses in their other road wheels as well as an easy adjustment that allows you to fine tune the bearing preload for a wheel that rolls perfectly smooth.

The Mavic Comete Road Rear Disc Wheel is 700c Tubular only and is available with either a Campagnolo or a Shimano/SRAM compatible FTS-L freehub body. It has a standard, over locknut dimension (OLD) of 130mm for use in typical road TT bikes. It comes with a BR601 quick release skewer, wheel bag, Exalith specific brake pads, and a valve extender.

This wheel is part of Mavic's MP3 extended warranty program. The acronym stands for Mavic Product Protection Plan, and it provides you with two years of almost unlimited no-fault protection from Mavic. More details can be found on the MP3 website. Please note that MP3 coverage must be purchased within 5 days of the date that you receive your wheel. Contact one of our customer service representatives for the retailer and product codes that you'll need to register your wheel on the Mavic MP3 site. You'll also need the serial number that you'll find on your wheel. The cost for this coverage is approximately 8% of the retail cost of the wheel.
