Held in place without a waist.

Once you've been struck with the cycling bug, it doesn't take more than one ride in bibs to figure out why they're so popular. Not only do they provide the necessary comfort and support of quality cycling shorts, but bibs like the Louis Garneau Signature Optimum also stay in place without a pinching waist band.

The lowers are constructed with eight panels of Louis Garneau's Signature Optimum fabric. This material's flexible, yet supportive stretch knit is composed of a nylon/spandex blend. Essentially, the highly elastic properties of the fabric wrap your muscles in place, providing you with the proper support that, in turn, leads to a little less fatigue.

The fabric is also lightweight and highly breathable, which lends itself to transferring moisture away from the skin, keeping you comfortable and dry. And, in addition to this, its anatomically-shaped fabric panels are joined with flatlock seams in order to eliminate irritation and reduce chafing throughout the construction. Additionally, Garneau's compressive Powerband leg cuffs keep the leg panels firmly in place without restricting circulation.

For further comfort, Louis Garneau incorporated its Silvercool3 chamois into the Optimum shorts. This two-way stretch insert conforms to your body and is composed of multi-thickness, high-density foam for a precise, targeted support. The antibacterial Coolmax top sheet wraps the chamois, so you'll also stay cool and fresh for the long haul.

For safety, Garneau has placed back and bottom reflective accents to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

The Louis Garneau Signature Optimum Bib Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the color Black.

Here's what others have to say...

They are good for the price.

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

They are good for the money. Make sure you get fitted for bibs prior to purchasing online, this way you are sure to get what you are looking for. I tried a pair of LG bibs in a cycling store to see how this brand would fit. I also had a fitting done to see what my size was for bibs. I would recommend these only for the cost. If you have 13 more bucks get the Perfo Light LG bibs.

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these as a spare for shitty weather and such when I didn't want to muck-up my pricey kit.
The bib fit was excellent but the chamois was like a diaper. Way too big for the shorts causing the material to gather where the ham meets the glute. Not a good thing!
The legs have no rubber to stop the material from riding up your quad either, that I would probably have lived with cause I wear knee warmers in shitty weather. However the diaper caused these bibs to go in the return mail.
I would not recommend them unless you have one gigantic butt!

would be great, but...

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wish I could say I loved these shorts. They are comfortable, fit well, and provide good padding. Unfortunately, there was a knot of string from a terrible stitching job that ruined everything. Wouldn't be a problem if it weren't between the chamois and fabric. I can't wear them for 20 minutes without wanting to cry from chaffing of the taint. I've contacted LG in an attempt to get a replacement pair. I'll update when they get back to me.

Do these bibs have leg grippers like the inside is lined with silicone or is it just an elastic band? Ive read bad reviews on other sites of this brand riding up the legs

They don't! But I have not find any riding up issue with these shorts. Leg is long and they stay righy up your knee.

Shape not for me

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

While I have other LG bibs that I love, the chamois of this model was too far forward missing the sit spots completely. They were well made as all LG items, but just not layed out correctly.

Great for the price!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

This is one of the best bibs around and comes in at an affordable price. The chamois is very supportive but not too bulky. It fits nearly perfectly. The only reason I am giving it four stars is when walking around at a restaurant or coffee shop it tends to ride up a tiny bit.

These are great

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

besides the fact that your friends laugh at you when they see them and you look like a luchador... they fit greay and are super comfortable for racing or for wearing under you other mountain bike gear for padded shorts. I am 5'10 and 170 lbs and I ordered a large and they are great.

Great quality for the price

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I love cycling as a hobby, but am not a competitive cyclist or out everyday on my bike, riding 100 miles is a good week for me. I had been using some older bike shorts with not much padding at all and figured it was time to upgrade to a bib. I was unsure of the quality I would get for the price, as some bibs can run upwards of $300+. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised when these arrived. I'm not sure how the more expensive bibs compare, but compared to the shorts I was using these are amazing. I really like the bib over shorts as well and can't believe I went this long without these. If you are a casual road cyclist like myself and want a little bit of comfort and style without too much investment, I'd say this is a great buy.

Unanswered Question

So this brand runs American big? I have a 29-30 inch waist and like a race-fit, so I need an extra small?

I usually wear medium bibs, but my waist...

I usually wear medium bibs, but my waist size is 32.

I think this is because bibs are usually "European size" where humans are not obese.

Should I get these in M or S? The size chart suggests S.

For example I know castelli or capo bibs an M is perfect.

I wear a Large(36) but XLarge(38) fits me better with this brand(Louis Garneau), maybe you should consider one size bigger
