Description

If you're wet by 10, you're cold by 10:30.

You're not always riding an hors catagorie climb, and sometimes groceries need to be purchased and bars must be visited. The Louis Garneau Seattle Jacket is the go-to jacket for your everyday riding. The Seattle Jacket is light enough to keep in your just-in-case bag, and is functional enough to keep you dry inside and out after hours of city riding. Don't let the rain get in the way of your fun, or your business.

The Louis Garneau Seattle Jacket is the waterproof staple for any urban rider. Constructed from Max 2.5 fabric that's laminated with a polyurethane membrane, the Seattle Jacket breathes, wicks, and repels wind and rain. But Louis Garneau designed the jacket to keep water out, not just off, and incorporated all sealed seams, Velcro cinches at the wrist, and a removable hood that fits over your helmet. For a precise fit, the Seattle Jacket has a semi-relaxed shape and drawstrings at the hood and hem. The most important features for the urban landscape are the reflective piping on the sleeves, front and back reflective logos, and the zip and flap rear pocket.

The Louis Garneau Seattle Jacket is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large, and in the colors India Ink and Yellow.

  • Removable hood fits over a helmet to tackle the worst rainstorms
  • Front two-way zipper with inner and outer flaps so the elements can't slip through
  • Back pocket with zip and flap for the important goods
  • Front and back vents prevent over-heating
  • Hook-and-loop adjustable elastic wrists for a secure fit
  • Semi-relaxed fit is perfect for around town
  • Adjustable elastic drawstrings at hood and hem keep the Seattle Jacket from flapping in the wind
  • Reflective piping and logos keep motorists aware of your presence in low light

Louis Garneau Seattle Jacket.

I live on the shores of lake Ontario in Western New York. Our winters are legendary. I need a water resistant, windproof outer shell that can breathe to keep me dry on the inside. The LG Seattle jacket is the solution! It has performed flawlessly! We've had a long hard winter and I've been riding all winter long! The hi-vis yellow color makes me feel safer in the urban traffic that comes with the territory around here. I have other jackets that fit my requirements but the LG Seattle is always my first choice!

Not up to LG standards

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I live in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, about a 6 hour drive/ferry trip north of Seattle. It rains here, and I have owned great Louis Garneau products in the past, so a cycling jacket called the Seattle Jacket seemed like a no-brainer. I wore it for three weeks before the fall rains started and I had a good chance to test it.
I'm sorry to say it failed miserably on several counts.
Fit - Poor. I'm 5'8" tall , 160 lbs,and I bought a Medium. It's so short it rides up to my waist no matter what I do with the draw-string, and it's so wide in the trunk and sleeves it flaps wildly in the wind.
Quality - Needs improvement. The zipper jams every time I use it; impossible to use while I'm riding.
Design - Needs improvement. There are no air vents that work, they are layered flaps with no openings so you can't adjust air flow.
Waterproof - No. In the first Port Alberni rainfall, on a 20 minute commute, the water soaked through on the shoulders, which really didn't make any difference because I sweat so much every time I wear it anyway even though the temperature is only a few degrees above freezing.
I expected better from Louis Garneau and I will be returning this tomorrow.

How thick is the jacket? i am going to whistler and i want something that isnt too warm to ride in

Best Answer Responded on

It's not thick or warm at all. The jacket is designed as a rain shell. It will block moisture and wind.

Not a long distance jacket

I could see using this for quick trips to the store or walking around town but that's about it. It doesn't breathe at all so with any exertion you will be soaked with sweat.

Sizing is a little big, think the typical Wal-Mart cut. The sleeves are just about the right length off the bike and tend to creep up while riding.

Verdict: Three thumbs down

Garbage bag

Poor finish, not enough venting, mediocre breathability and less than average waterproofing. I got wet from the rain, and from excessive sweating at low average pace! I wonder if someone at Garneau actually look at that stuff before shipping to retailer. Not worth it, even on sale! It's my second piece of Garneau equipment and my last! Their shorts weren't any better.
