I have tried high end Pearl Izumi's, castelli's, etc. and this is the most comfortable piece of any biking gear I own. I am really happy with them so far (I have about 150 miles in them so far I would estimate).
So I am 5'9, 160 lbs, 32 waist, 38 hips, by the size chart I would be a small, but from other reviews I'm not sure if a Medium would be better or not. 21" around the largest part of my quads, and average upper body vs. leg proportions. What size should I get?
I do many hours of indoor training to get ready for next years Time Trial season. This is the most comfortable bib I have. I am 6'1-1/2" 180 and the large fits me perfectly. I will be ordering 2 more of these today.
Wow! These bibs are the best thing I've ever had on. I just got these in the mail and put them on. They are fantastic! They are like night and day compared to my other shorts. The Chamois is wonderful. It conforms to your body like a second skin. I'm 601 and 185lbs and I got the Medium. I'll say that I have long legs and thin legs at that. But the mediums fit me perfectly. I would agree with other posters that say don't go by the waist size since these are bibs it really doesn't matter. I went to a LBS and tried on similar pairs to get an idea on size and it worked perfectly. I'll be buying at least one more pair very soon so I can wear these all the time if not two pairs. I'm impressed. A must buy.
Ok, got these a couple weeks back. I give 4 stars simply because it seems they came with a small little rip in the front which would hardly be noticeable except it's white underneath which shows up against the black. I'd like to think I am so well endowed that it caused a small rip, but I think I'd be lying to myself. On a more serious note, certainly nothing major, I think I just got a little unlucky with the pair, but if I saw it in a store I would obviously instantly put it back and get a pair without this. But given I'm across the border, it's not worth sending back.
Regarding everything else, it's perfect. Awesome design, ultra comfortable. Sizing is true to the specs. I am a bit of a freak in that I have a big gap between my upper body size and lower (getting a suit usually involves re-cutting the pants completely). Fits well. I can't picture anybody not loving these!
Outstanding fit and materials. Wicks moisture well, and despite being mostly black (only real flaw as there are no color options) keeps my legs cool and seems to support optimal circulation. I will buy another set.
Possibly the best pads I've ever seen in a pair of shorts. Kind of expensive but well worth it. The panel material is a little strange and takes some getting used to. They run a touch small, so watch your sizing.
The only problem is I want to wear them every ride. They offer excellent compression and a perfect pad - thick but supple, the kind you never really notice. My only issue/concern is that after about a dozen rides and a couple of hand-washings I noticed the edge of the white thigh band is starting to look a little frayed. You have to look very close to notice it, but it has me a little worried about long-term wear. Overall I love these bibs. As for fit, I'm 5-11/158 and the mediums are on the snug side. Disregard the fit chart that says small fits a 32-inch waist.
I've had this bib short now for a couple of months and I like it a lot. I'm 5-5, 140 pounds. The bib fits me perfectly. The compression fabric is top notch. The chamois is of good quality as well. I haven't had any issues with chafed skin. From a functionality stand-point, this bib has been worth every penny. It looks great. The fit is very close to the skin so keep that in mind. The only negative is one of the brand lettering came off. But I was able to press it back on by applying some indirect heat with an iron. I recommend placing a towel between the bib and the iron. Be careful not to put too much heat as it will damage the fabric. Happy hammering. :)
These bibs are very comfy. I love the compression to keep muscular vibration down. It reduces fatigue and over a long ride it makes a difference. The chamois is as good or better than anything I've ever ridden including bibs in the $300+ range.
4 stars instead of 5 because:
The laser cut on the end of the bibs is cool because you have a single layer of material. The problem I have with it is that it rolls up a bit, especially if your shorts are extra tight like I like them. Also, if you want to keep your tan-lines in the same place day after day, you generally pull the shorts up above the line then pull them back down to line up perfectly. With the laser cut, you can't pull the shorts back down without the material rolling a bit. This is purely and aesthetic issue and unnoticeable except when you are putting on your shorts.
