Description

Look good, stay warm, and ride faster.

Springtime isn't all lilacs and babbling brooks. In fact, if you're not prepared, the spastic weather can steal entire weekends of riding from you. The Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket will keep you ahead of the storm and in the saddle when the weather is less than ideal.

The Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket is constructed from a combination of WindDry 12k and Micro-Airdry EX fabrics. Both fabrics are lightweight and breathable, and provide consistent ventilation on cold days in the saddle. The front of the Geminix features a two-way reversed zipper, an inner flap, and a cycling-specific collar that work together to offer easy one-handed zips for ventilation. The fit is enhanced by elastic wristbands and a signature gripper at the bottom hem. These help keep the Geminix stay in place when the zippered back pocket is loaded with your multi-tool and energy bars. For night riding, Louis Garneau included reflective piping on the sleeves, and reflective logos on the front and rear of the jacket. The Geminix also features a designated MP3 player pocket.

The Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large, and in the colors Ginger, Royal Blue, and Yellow.

  • Mini-light rubber tab for easy light attachment
  • Front, two-way reversed zip with inner flap and chin guard for easy one-hand access and venting
  • Signature hem gripper keeps jacket from riding up
  • Front and back reflective logos and piping on sleeves for safe riding in low light
  • Micro-Airdry EX fabric in key regions for optimal ventilation
  • MP3-specific pocket for tune management

Fantastic Jacket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been using this jacket atop 2 dry fit layers in 30 degree weather and it has performed beyond my expectations. I purchased this at the sale price of $59.95 and consider it a steal. I highly recommend!
In response to faa3096218: The sizing and fit are SEMI-FIT. I purchased the XXL in this Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket ; I have a 47.5" chest and 38" wasit and it's pretty snug. Almost perfect for my 3 layer winter riding outfitting. I wear a polyester short sleeve dri-fit shirt under a long sleeve dri-fit shirt with the jacket as the outer most garment. I have been riding in 30 degree weather (NYC) with no problem. I have a Gore Bike Wear Men's ALP-X Jacket and have not had to use it this winter because of this Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket.

Thanks for the review. How is the sizing and fit?

Nice Jacket!

I am 6'2" about 200-205 (16.5-17 neck, 34/35 sleeve length), 41" chest.

I bought the medium, as LG product fits larger than Euro sizing. As well, I prefer a tighter fit and dont like a lot of flapping in the wind.

I bought mine off chainlove, for $25, what a steal!!!

Construction appears good, the fit is good, it didnt smell like a chemical bath and once you have it on the colorway isnt that bad, either. At the size medium, it will be work with a short sleeve jersey and arm warmers most likely or as a commuter jacket in Fall.

I will be keeping my eye on chainlove. If it comes up again at $25, I will be buying a Large to layer under.

It is hard to rate the windstop (it is July after all). But the material feels like pretty typical, sturdy windstop.

I have one knock on it. I wish the front had 2 hand pockets.

Also, I have one compliment. Thanks for the zipper guard on the chin flap. I hate when my beard gets caught!

Can you tell me the suited temperature range for the Geminix Jacket compared to the Massimo Jacket? I'm going to order one, but just not sure which one will suit my needs best.
Thanks

What's the weight of an XXL jacket?

Hey Denis,

Looks like this jacket comes in at about 11oz in XXL.

Maybe

Pretty good in terms of design and fit. Color scheme is pretty ugly and the jacket smells like it came out of a chemical bath so if I keep it I'll wash before wearing.

I am looking at this jacket for women. I love the look and description of this jacket. I wish they would give a back view of the reflective material. How reflective is the jacket? It mentions the piping is reflective. Do you think the reflective parts are enough, do you wish there was more?

This is a GREAT piece. BTW, this jacket comes in a women's cut: http://www.realcyclist.com/louis-garneau-geminix-jacket-womens

You can see a photo of the back of the jacket on the women's side. Piping is along the black panel that goes up the back. In addition, the area around the zipper and the Garneau logo are also reflective. Plus LG has added a tab to the bottom of the jacket that allows you to attach a visibility light.

I like the amount of reflective on the Jacket. It stands out well, but does not ruin the look of the piece. Rather gives it a good pop. The men's jacket has the same reflective profile as the women's described above.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks so much for your response.

It pretty much sealed the deal on me getting this jacket. I'm excited about it being a decent reflective jacket with the added bonus of clipping a light to the back.

I can't wait to wear it.

Thanks again.

I am wondering about the sizing of this jacket. The descriptions says slim fit, so does that mean that if you follow the chart it will be skin tight? I am looking for a jacket to wear over a dress shirt on the commute to work. Given that my chest is about 39 inches, would you recommend a medium or a large for my use?

Responded on

Joe. The jacket is not skin tight; however it is a fitted style. You can wear this jacket easily with a base layer and a jersey underneath. So I'm sure a dress shirt will be fine. And while i dont know your tailor measurments, I'd definitely go med. A large will likely be too long in the torso and the sleeves.

Responded on

Ya I would say that a medium would be good for your size because I am a 44 chest and a large is good for me. So a medium will fit you with some room for a dress shirt.

Write your question here...What is the recommended temperature range for this jacket in particular? In my case, the coldest temps I have to face are 32 degrees farenheit.

Thanks.

I would use this piece down to about 20F (with a base layer). Colder than that and I would suggest the Massimo Jacket. This should be a good piece for you.
