Description

Go ahead and ride till you've worn through.

The prospect of wearing through your grundle while participating in the RAAM won’t help your pre-race psyche. Lucky for you Louis Garneau added the magical Crabyon fabric to their supportive chamois in the Equipe Bib Short. It not only offers support for those super-long rides like the RAAM, it may even accelerate wound healing.

 • A perfect blend of nylon, polyester, and Lycra allow Fit Sensor to resist abrasion, wick perspiration, and support muscles for long-distance cycling comfort
 • With perforated gel inserts and varying thickness foam, the AirGel chamois dampens vibration while offering support and relief to key areas
 • The AirGel Chamois also features healing Crabyon fabric and an antimicrobial treatment for chafe-free, long-ride comfort
 • Lycra Power offers compression to reduce muscle vibration for less fatigue during vigorous exercise

Don't wear these off road

 • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Duh, you will say, but let me reiterate: don't wear these off road. I crashed in a CX race (not a major crash) and they shredded to useless nothing. Made me very sad. They still get 4 stars from me, as they are excellent road bibs, with good compression and good heat modulation. But they are apparently made of fragile materials that make these shorts a notch below Assos (which have crashed and survived).

So buy these shorts, they're really great, look great, work great. Just don't crash. But you probably knew that already.

My go to bib short

 • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

An excellent bib short. I am one of those crazy people that ride a track bike really long distances, including the first person to do La Vuelta Puerto Rico 375 miles in 3 days on a track bike. I say this for 2 reasons. 1) Those who know about track bikes know their geometry and the fact that they aren't built for comfort. 2) Those are some brutally long distances for that geometry. Having said that i used to get saddle sores all the time with other bib shorts, until i bought these. I am 6'1" and my weight goes between 165lbs and 180 lbs depending on the season and what i am training for, my waist is 33 inches and the medium, while snug actually fits perfect. The legs dont ride up at all and the compression on them is awesome! Just dont get into an accident with them as with all bib shorts, it can get expensive =(

A good way to finish out the Equipe kit

I bought the bib shorts because I had an Equipe jersey and wanted to have something other than the basic black shorts. These fit the bill nicely, and I liked the weird design. As other reviewers noted, the sizing runs a bit small. I have a 29" waist and the mediums fit fine on me. Most of my cycling clothing is pretty subdued, so I like breaking these guys out. I've ridden them lots and they're holding together just fine--they're well made.

I also wear Castelli and Capo shorts and must note that these Louis Garneau shorts are not in their league, perhaps a half-step or a step below those. The chamois is comfortable enough and I've no complaints, but it feels somewhat more basic. The length of the shorts is also longer, ending just above my knee (I'm 5'9"). This isn't a defect, but if you do not prefer longer shorts--or you value the sharpness of your cycler's tan--then you will want to be aware of this.

RE: Bib shorts...What size recommendation...

RE: Bib shorts...What size recommendation for actual measured waist 36" and 40" hips? LG size chart states size L for 36 waist 42 hips, looking for real-life fit experience to help me choose L or XL. Don't think it makes a diff, but I'm 6'1" and 195lbs.

**Update: Contacted Back Country staff via chat help, and purchased XL based on their recommendation. Fit is PERFECT, thank you BC. The shorts feel great, only done one 70km (44mi) ride and they provide more comfort than my Zoic Black Market shorts (granted those are really MTB shorts).

Most Compressive bibs ever!!

Love these bibs.
I have 32in waist so ordered the small according to the chart. At first I thought they were to small. But I pulled them on any way. extremely tight fit around the legs, but normal fit through the crotch and waist. Love the compression, especially on longish MTB rides, 50 plus miles. definitely helps keep my legs feeling fresh.
I've had them for about 3 months no signs wear yet, seem very well constructed, the chamois is good not to thick or thin and stays put like a second skin.
Buy these bibs on sale and be happy.
like me. ;))

Do these have elastic "sticky" leg...

Do these have elastic "sticky" leg openings?

Responded on

No - they use the LG "Powerband" compressive grippers, basically a slightly tighter wide band (you can see it in the product photos, bearing the LG logo and name around the leg). They work very well - I've had no slippage up my thigh over 2hrs riding.

Responded on

For me these have performed better than those elastic "sticky" leg openings, they have never ridden up my leg, i have been using this bib short model for ~2 years.

Glad I ordered more than one

About me: I typically do 30-60 miles of riding at a time in variable weather (45-100F) several times a week

These have been a welcome addition to my cycling gear. They fit tight (or a little small), but I am a typical medium or a small and I bought medium and I love them. So if you fit on the border,I recommend buying the size up.

The chamois sits well for the entire distance of the ride. I don't overheat nor freeze my behind off with the material. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a new pair of bibs!

Great product

The shorts are great, although on the smaller size. I suggest getting a size bigger than your actual measurement. I had to order the Large size. Great support and padding, as well as over all design

Love them, ordered more.

Snug short, which I like.. but it doesn't make you feel too restricted. The padding is the best I've ever had in a cycling short.

I am 5'9" ~150 lbs and the small fits me well.

Loved them so much, I ordered another pair.

comfortable bibs

tried these out on a couple of shorter rides and so far impressed. Bought for the chamois rating and the compression. Both are good IMO. Straps are not binding and the legs do not ride up. Only thing I found is they seem to run a size smaller than some of the other bibs I have and had to return and reorder a size up-

Favorite Bibs

Great bib short, even on 100+ mile rides. Might get another pair. Snug at first, but you get use to it and like it.

I am 6'2" and 195. The XL fits well.

Not for me...

Was happy to see the way the seams up front were designed, but unfortunately the zero flex caused my junk a ton of trouble even after a couple of rides and lots of "manual adjustments". I have wide hips so this may have led to it being to tight up front, and either creating to much compression up front or sliding everything down into my chamois on standing climbs. Other than that, the rest of the construction was fantastic. Great compression in legs, well designed back and straps, and cuffs on legs were nice and tight without being constricting.
My feeling is that these will not stretch (solid construction) and my helpful RS chat guy agreed that going to a large would throw the rest of the exception fit off just for the crotch give.

Trying out the Castelli Velocissimo Due Bib Short based on my chat feedback.

RS customer service rocks and made the switch painless (even if my nethers unfortunately didn't get through it so easy).

Responded on

Quick update - trying the Larges and also comparing them to the Castelli Velocissimo in Large
5'9" 162 - 33 in waist

BTW - Can I tell you that the support here is just completely awesome!

Favorite Bibs

Own Sugoi RS and RSE's. Also Pearl Izumi Pro's. Like those but these fit better and have a better chamois. Hold up well with many washings. I wear a large. 5' 10" 33 waist. 34" inseam. 163lbs.

Hey Pau,

Here is a pic of the AirGel chamois.

Hey Pau,

Here is a pic of the AirGel chamois.

Is the fabric on the sides of the legs...

Posted on

Is the fabric on the sides of the legs thinner so that it is a bit see through? I really don't like shorts that even a little see through, but there may be those out there that do, just wondering.

Responded on

The legs are not see-through. The color on the legs is a lighter shade (charcoal grey) compared to the rest of the bibs. Also, that same section has a white inner color.
