Added lower-body warmth.

It's certainly not their only application, but knickers are popular in cyclocross racing because knee warmers have the tendency to fall down and bunch when they get soaked or when a course requires a lot of run-ups or barrier-jumps. Full-length tights, on the other hand, are often overkill for these short, intense races, and can absorb extra water and mud. Whether you're riding off-road or on the road, the Louis Garneau Enduro Bib Knickers 3 provide added lower-body warmth and critical knee insulation for days when your regular bib shorts with knee warmers won't cut it.

Garneau constructed the Enduro Bib Knickers out of their HeatMaxx fabric, which is a Roubaix-type fabric with a smooth outer surface and a brushed micro-fleece liner. It will keep you warm without restricting your movement or feeling bulky. There are six panels, stitched together with friction-minimizing flatlock seams, so that the knickers conform to your movements. The 4-way stretching Airzone chamois found in the Enduro Bib Knickers has dual-density foam to provide the right amount of cushioning, and it's perforated to help it breath and transfer moisture away from the skin. Additionally, the edges of the chamois are tapered to eliminate pinching and chafing. The top of the Airzone has an antibacterial treatment in case you have to skip a wash or two on your 'cross or bike touring getaway.

Some final finishing touches round out the Enduro Knickers: Garneau's Powerband system at the calf won't cut off circulation like silicone grippers have a tendency to do, and reflective logos provide added visibility for low-light conditions. The Louis Garneau Enduro Bib Knickers 3 come in sizes X-Small through XX-Large and in Black.

Excellent Bibs

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

These are truly some of my favorite bibs! They are not the warmest, but keep me comfortable in temperatures down to the mid 40's, and are very comfortable even for rides into the 70 mile range. I do notice the wear at the point where the bibs met the saddle, but have put two winter seasons on these, with no rips, tears or any other noticeable wear, and at this point I'm confident they will last another 1-2 seasons.

I would buy these again, but my first pair is still in good shape!

Almost perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: medium

I'll start w/ my size - I'm 5'8", 135 lbs, 32-in waist, 36-in chest. The medium fit me perfectly, and so it would seem that these bib shorts run small since they're meant for someone with a 34-in waist but fit my 32-in waist just fine. Medium seems to be my go-to size w/ Louis Garneau bottoms, which suggests that there's some level of consistency between different models within the LG line - something I can't say about too many other brands.

FIT - the straps fit just right - not too tight, and not too loose. An incredibly soft and comfortable fleece lines the entire inside of these knickers except for the chamois itself. I love the flatlock stitching, which makes the seams more or less disappear while wearing this bib (on and off the bike).

The chamois is superb - its contours, varying thickness, and tapered edges make for little to no chafing and irritation. I cannot comment on long-ride comfort yet because I haven't had any opportunities to ride over 60 miles in these knickers yet. If this Airzone chamois is anything like LG's Motion Airgel chamois, then I suspect that these knickers will start to lose some of its comfort after 70 miles or so.

My only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I am seeing the same signs of wear that other reviewers have mentioned (where the knickers come in contact with the saddle). Hopefully they have a good amount of life left in them because they're so darn comfortable.

Disappointed.

These bibs look great. Are very comfortable and fit like your favorite pair of bibs. I titled this review disappointed because I returned the bibs. They were showing signs of wear where they touched the seat after only a 30 mile ride... I'm a 6' 1' rider and weigh about 172# and was riding in the rain. I really wish I still had these bibs (so comfortable) but couldn't live with the durability issue. I close by saying these bibs are close to perfect, just not durable enough.

Had the same signs of wear on several contact points. Used it on a 40+ mile ride. Never had that kind of wear on my other LG bib. Still holding on to mine until I change my saddle to a less padded kind. I would hate to return my enduro, it just feels so good.

Great Bib.

For early morning fall rides, this bib has perfectly bridged the gap between a short and a full length tight- just the right amount of warmth. The amount of padding is perfect for short intense rides and the antibacterial treatment really does keep the stink down.
