Description

Easy on the eyes and your skin.

While simplicity typically carries a tone of, well, being simplistic. We find that, when done right, it equates more to efficiency and perfection. Such is the case with the Louis Garneau Elite/Equipe Kit. And to make things even more simple, we've package Garneau's jersey and bib shorts into one beautiful package.

Garneau placed its Coldblack Carbon Ion fabric at the front panels and scapula region. The reason behind this is simple. This material features a highly breathable knit with a fabric weight that's slightly compressive (110g/m2). This means that road vibration will have a lessened effect on the muscle groups of the torso, while maintaining a cool temperature. Also, with the calculated addition of the carbon fiber filament to the fabric knit, this material's moisture management has been exponentially advanced. And even more impressively, the carbon fiber naturally blocks out static and rogue atmospheric electrical interference for an increased anaerobic output and a delayed onset of fatigue.

In terms of aerodynamics, Garneau focused its attention to the forward most point of the body, the shoulders and sleeve. Accordingly, a minimal aerodynamic profile is ensured by through the incorporation of Coldblack Speedtech at this region. As the name implies, this fabric is built for speed. It features a dimpled mesh design that's akin to the surfaces of aero helmets and golf balls. The reasoning behind this is simple — between speeds of 15 and 45 mph, the dimples reduce drag at the forward most point of your body. Additionally, this aerodynamic trait has natural hydrophilic properties that assist in wicking away moisture. And even better, its 18% spandex content qualifies Speedtech as a certified compressive fabric. This means that your upper-body will be less susceptible to the volatile effects of road vibration and general fatigue.

And while the Elite Carbon jersey has you covered for aerodynamics and material comfort, Garneau went to even greater lengths to fulfill the most cumbersome variable of comfort — heat control. Sure, the aforementioned fabrics are breathable, but Garneau still added ventilation points on the side panels and under the arms. This area of the jersey has been made from the Mesh 1001 material for many reasons. First, it enhances the jersey's next-to-skin fit and comfort with its stretchable, microfiber composition. Second, it's been treated in order to wick moisture away rapidly. And lastly, it effectively regulates the internal temperature of the jersey at a natural core-ventilation point. Going a step beyond, Garneau also treated all of the jersey fabrics with its Coldblack finish. This finish permits the sun's heat to be reflected away from the jersey instead of absorbing it like most fabrics. So, you can ride on the rivet during summer races without running the risk of overheating.

For fit, you'll find that the Elite Carbon jersey is perfectly adaptable to the position and movements of cycling. In fact, Garneau cut the jersey on an anatomic contour in order to ensure this. And securing the fit are Garneau's Lazer Rev arm cuffs and a noninvasive silicone waist gripper. You'll also find that Garneau has taken your ability to store ride essentials into consideration. Along these lines, the jersey has three ample rear pockets, and to entirely house a race radio or media device, there's also a zippered media pocket with internal line routing. Garneau has even added what it calls an 'enviro pocket' for you to store empty gel pouches or wrappers — no more littering.

For the bib shorts, Garneau used a well-positioned blend of Lycra Power, Lycra Pro, and Power Mesh. For compressive support, Lycra Power has been placed at various points on the legs of the shorts. Basically, this fabric features more Lycra fibers per ounce/square yard than typical Lycra compositions. So, the material experiences an elastic hold on your muscle groups, supporting and shielding them from the bulk of oscillation and road vibration. This results in a decrease in overall muscle fatigue, while also, according Garneau, a 10 to 20% improvement in blood circulation.

And when the aforementioned is paired with the Lycra Pro material, the shorts experience a heightened level of recovering stretch. So, your freedom of movement is ensured. Further ensuring this characteristic, Garneau designed the shorts with a seamless inner-leg and a ten-panel construction. This not only leads to an increase in flexibility, but, more obviously, it lends itself to eliminating abrasion. Garneau even took this concept a step further by only using flatlock stitching throughout the shorts and uppers. However, all the while, both fabrics possess an extraordinary ability to manage moisture. This means that riding with damp legs after 40k is now a thing of the past.

Securing the Equipe's precise fit took a few steps. First, was the compressive fit. Secondly, Garneau included its Powerbands at the leg cuffs. These provide a strong, no-slip hold on the legs, but they also reduce pressure on the lower legs in order to avoid inhibiting a proper circulation. Next, Garneau constructed the bib straps from Power Mesh, while adding a stretch trim to ensure flexibility. These straps not only hold the position of the shorts, but with their moisture wicking composition, they also aid in pulling perspiration away from the back and torso.

Lastly, Garneau further ensured your comfort by incorporating its Airgel chamois. This insert places in emphasis on comforting support, breathability, and moisture management. To achieve this, the portions of support density are comprised of perforated gel inserts. This allows the chamois to adapt to pressure without sacrificing its supportive qualities. Additionally, the perforation increases the gel's breathability, preventing buildups of heat, and accordingly, eliminating hot spots. To further support this, Garneau layered the insert with Crabyon fabric. Antibacterial, allergy-tested, and biodegradable, Crabyon has long been used in the medicinal practices. Why? It accelerates the wound healing process, while also demonstrating a resistance to abrasion and chafing.

The Louis Garneau Elite/ Equipe Kit is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Fluo Orange, Ginger, and Twilight Blue.
