The science of speed.

With the recent, and nearly constant, success of Team Europe Car's Voeckler and Rolland, the world's eye has shifted towards the Canadian Louis Garneau. What secrets is it hiding in those jerseys? Not surprisingly, the answer is numerous. With its Elite Carbon Jersey, Garneau has tackled all of the major ailments that plague cyclists over long distances. Now, heat is controlled, comfort is assured, and even cell phone tower signals are blocked.

Garneau placed its Coldblack Carbon Ion fabric at the front panels and scapula region. The reason behind this is simple. This material features a highly breathable knit with a fabric weight that's slightly compressive (110g/m2). This means that road vibration will have a lessened effect on the muscle groups of the torso, while maintaining a cool temperature. Also, with the calculated addition of the carbon fiber filament to the fabric knit, this material's moisture management has been exponentially advanced. And even more impressively, the carbon fiber naturally blocks out static and rogue atmospheric electrical interference for an increased anaerobic output and a delayed onset of fatigue.

In terms of aerodynamics, Garneau focused its attention to the forward most point of the body, the shoulders and sleeve. Accordingly, a minimal aerodynamic profile is ensured by through the incorporation of Coldblack Speedtech at this region. As the name implies, this fabric is built for speed. It features a dimpled mesh design that's akin to the surfaces of aero helmets and golf balls. The reasoning behind this is simple -- between speeds of 15 and 45 mph, the dimples reduce drag at the forward most point of your body. Additionally, this aerodynamic trait has natural hydrophilic properties that assist in wicking away moisture. And even better, its 18% spandex content qualifies Speedtech as a certified compressive fabric. This means that your upper-body will be less susceptible to the volatile effects of road vibration and general fatigue.

And while the Elite Carbon jersey has you covered for aerodynamics and material comfort, Garneau went to even greater lengths to fulfill the most cumbersome variable of comfort -- heat control. Sure, the aforementioned fabrics are breathable, but Garneau still added ventilation points on the side panels and under the arms. This area of the jersey has been made from the Mesh 1001 material for many reasons. First, it enhances the jersey's next-to-skin fit and comfort with its stretchable, microfiber composition. Second, it's been treated in order to wick moisture away rapidly. And lastly, it effectively regulates the internal temperature of the jersey at a natural core-ventilation point. Going a step beyond, Garneau also treated all of the jersey fabrics with its Coldblack finish. This finish permits the sun's heat to be reflected away from the jersey instead of absorbing it like most fabrics. So, you can ride on the rivet during summer races without running the risk of overheating.

For fit, you'll find that the Elite Carbon jersey is perfectly adaptable to the position and movements of cycling. In fact, Garneau cut the jersey on an anatomic contour in order to ensure this. And securing the fit are Garneau's Lazer Rev arm cuffs and a noninvasive silicone waist gripper. You'll also find that Garneau has taken your ability to store ride essentials into consideration. Along these lines, the jersey has three ample rear pockets, and to entirely house a race radio or media device, there's also a zippered media pocket with internal line routing. Garneau has even added what it calls an 'enviro pocket' for you to store empty gel pouches or wrappers -- no more littering.

The Louis Garneau Elite Carbon Jersey is available in seven sizes from X-Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Black/white/ginger, White/triathlon grey/twilight blue, and White/black/fluo orange.
