Versatility to change with the seasons.

When arm warmers and a vest just won't cut it, the next level of on-the-bike protection usually comes in the form of a lightweight, breathable shell. This is where Louis Garneau's Electra Women's Jacket jumps into action, as its versatile design keeps your upper body protected and shielded from the elements. So, you'll remain comfortable and focused on the road ahead.

The Electra jacket was constructed using several of Garneau's technically advanced fabrics. For the outer-layer, Garneau applied its Diamond Air material, as this fabric is exceptionally lightweight, breathable, and wind-breaking. Beneath this layer is a Mesh Airdry lining, which is a thin, semi-perforated fabric that works to pull moisture away from your additional layers underneath the jacket. The back of the Electra received panels of Garneau's Micromesh to further its overall breathability and to prevent overheating. Additionally, the jacket was built with detachable sleeves, so that you can easily convert it into a vest. Garneau built the jacket with its women's-specific ProFit, which closely follows the contours of your body while in the cycling position and accounts for additional layers worn underneath. Elastic at the wrists and an elasticized drawstring at the waist secure this fit.

For the details of the Electra, Garneau added its front two-way zipper for maximum top and bottom ventilation. This zipper was built with an inner-flap in order to reduce drafts, as well as a zipper garage that prevents neck irritation. Two zippered pockets -- one chest and one rear -- seal your valuables from the elements, with an additional multimedia pocket allowing you to channel your headphone wires through the inside of the jacket. Garneau also had a hunch that you would be riding in low-light conditions, which is why it added reflective piping at the front and rear. Garneau also added a mini-light tab that allows you to easily attach a small light to the exterior of the shell.

The Louis Garneau Electra Women's Jacket is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors African Violet, Black, Bright Yellow, Flash Blue, and Ginger.

Double Duty

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 2"
    Size Purchased: Small

I know this is a bike jacket, but I bought this for running. I am terrible at choosing the right layers for running (I tend to overdress) and this jacket is great for allowing me to start out warm and strip down to a vest as I get warmed up. I like the magnet system and that there is a lot of opportunity for venting as you move toward taking the sleeves completely off. I find the magnet/zipper sleeve attachment simple enough that I can take them off and store them in the back pocket without stopping. When the sleeves are in the back pocket I found that it was more comfortable to tuck the jacket into my waist pack so that the jacket didn't go up and down as much - but this wasn't a big deal.
I got this jacket in the bright yellow - so I now am visible when I run early mornings!

Can anyone confirm if this is the model...

Can anyone confirm if this is the model with the magnetized sleeve attachment? thanks :)

Hey MJ,

These do have the magnetic attachment for the sleeve along the back panel.

Happy with it

This jacket has a great fit. Even the small has long enough sleeves for someone who typically has an issue with sleeve length. I like the flexibility of having a jacket and a vest in one. It is wind-breaking, but definitely not wind-stopping. I would say it is great for cool weather riding, but not enough for cold (40 degrees and below) weather riding. I actually wear it running on occasion and it works for that too!

Very comfy, well made jacket. However, I should have paid more attention to the description - no front pockets. Ugh.

If you go to, you can "see" the details (or lack thereof) of any bike wear. You can also pan front/back of products.
