Great Shorts - Had to Order Up One Size
Took the plunge and bought the white Corsa shorts to go with the white Corsa jersey I had already purchased the year before and absolutely loved. A detailed review of the shorts on a cycling blog had suggested that athletic women would be happier with the medium. I ignored the advice, to my peril! The small (that I normally buy, and which is VERY consistent in Garneau wear) was extremely small, with the white showing EVERYTHING. It would have been literally obscene to wear them out the door, so I exchanged for a medium, which fit just fine, still had some compression, and the chamois doesn't move around. I have other Garneau race-fit shorts in small that do not fit this small, so the reviewers on the blog were exactly right. Order up a size, especially if you're buying the white ones! These shorts are excellent for keeping cool and comfortable. I've done a fast 24 miles in them, and also a more paced 50 miles so far, and they have served well. The 4 motion chamois is very reliable, and I don't anticipate anything less than fabulous on a longer ride. They have already gotten a couple of small stains, which didn't wash out that well. The jersey, on the other hand, washes very well. The fabrics in the shorts and the jersey are a bit different, which makes for a slightly inconsistent kit when you put them together. I will give these 4 stars, because I feel Garneau generally puts a lot more thought into their products, especially the high-end items. The Corsa line appears to have weird problems that could have been avoided. I noticed also that the line (at least for women) has been discontinued for 2013.
Black version gets five stars... pink ones get zero stars
Fascinating...my review of these shorts was deleted. Hmmmmm. I bought these in black and in pink. The black smalls were awesome. Love the shorts, love the chamois, just a perfect short! The PINK version however fits nothing like the black. Totally different. I could barely get the smalls on because they were sooooo tight. I exchanged them for a medium. Super tight AGAIN. They "fit" enough to get them on but were awful. It was like different sizes of shorts were all pieced together to make this pair. The waist was ok, the butt/hips was very tight but possibly workable, the leg bands were atrocious and beyond skin tight...like cutting off circulation kind of tight. It was odd to say the least. I have pretty thin legs and the leg bands of the shorts were just unwearable. I am totally baffled because the black shorts and the pink shorts are supposed to be identical and there is nothing even remotely similar between the two.
Would love a review on these shorts. Are...
Would love a review on these shorts. Are they cool in hot weather? Do they have great padding? Are they comfortable? Do they run true to size? Are they worth the money? How does the waist band fit? How do they wash up? Are they great on long rides -80-100 miles?
I have a pair of last year's Corsa shorts. They are my gold standard of all my shorts for hot weather. I live in Texas, so I'm riding in hot sun a lot (like a metric century in 105 degree heat last Saturday). The fabric feels fantastic - extremely light - and just wicks sweat. You can feel the air circulate when you stand up out of the saddle. I love the waistband - it is comfortable and stretchy enough to accommodate gaining or losing weight. I think they are pretty true to size and, although I've lost 20 lbs since I ordered mine, I'm still fine in the pair I got, although considering a new pair in a smaller size. As for chamois, I think it's good, but not my absolute best. Still, I've ridden with these in many 48-50 mile rides. I just haven't taken them on a century, since I haven't ridden one this year. They wash easily, but I do not stick them in the dryer. Bottom line, for hot weather riding, I think they are worth the money. Hope that's helpful.
