Description

Destined to be a classic.

Louis Garneau's been manufacturing cycling apparel for 30 years, which leads us to believe its designers have learned a thing or two about constructing technical clothing. Besides that, Garneau continues to work with the world's best cycling teams in order to ensure that the gear it produces is up to real-world racing conditions. For us, this means that we can rest assured that the jerseys we receive from Garneau were thoroughly run through their paces before reaching our shoulders. The new Classico beautifully illustrates this, as this jersey was built to the highest of standards, and it was done so exclusively for Competitive Cyclist.

The Classico was designed for warm-weather riding conditions, where enhanced moisture production becomes inevitable. Garneau's latest fabric technologies were developed to mitigate this resulting effect of physical exertion, allowing you to stay dry and comfortable, regardless of how much the temperature rises. The Classico jersey received Louis Garneau's Diamond Fabric for its paneling. This material's extremely light knit composition provides excellent airflow and moisture management. The crosswise, diamond-shaped construction works by pulling moisture off of your skin and moving it to the surface of the fabric. And because the diamond pattering is textured, more surface area 'floats' above your skin. Essentially, this allows air to freely move through the material and to evaporate deposited moisture at a fast rate. The result is a jersey that stays dry regardless of the amount of moisture that your body produces.

For the fit of the jersey, Garneua built it around what its designers refer to as a 'pro fit.' This is slightly more generous than its next-to-skin race cut, but it still conforms to the contours of your body for a streamlined, race-inspired feel in the saddle. While many jerseys blend multiple fabrics of differing weights and composition, the Classico's single Diamond material means fewer seams for smoother transition from one panel to next. Furthering the fit characteristics of these uninterrupted panels of fabric, Garneau built the jersey with a curved design. Each panel was cut to form to the cyclist's body while in motion, meaning that the jersey as a whole stays firmly in place when in the riding position. This cut also provides you with a completely unrestricted range of motion, eliminating fabric bunching and skin irritation.

Garneau built the Classico with a full-length zipper for maximum ventilation. Finishing touches include three angled pockets along the lower back panel, reflective accents that increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, and elastic at the hem in order to keep everything securely in place.

The Louis Garneau Classico Jersey is available in seven sizes from X-Small to XXX-Large and in the color Emerald.

Very Nice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a very nice jersey. Nice fit (assuming you get it right), nice colors.

I must say that after several rides in high (90f+) heat, these aren't all that great. While i think they look/feel great, especially, in the bathroom mirror, they are *somewhat* less than great in actual use. They seem a tad heavy/sweaty in actual use... but of course that depends on where you live/weather.

I don't mean to sound like such a toad, but i feel as though there are many $50 choices (on sale!) that are equal to/or greater than this ~$70 jersey. That said, I don't know about you, but i gladly paid the extra ~$20-ish because these simply LOOK GREAT.

If you're looking for a good level jersey, with GREAT level looks, Buy It!

Nicely colorful w/out over branding

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

(Review written for the kit)
Love this kit! From the 80's aerobics color scheme, well kinda, to the fit, very Euro, slim-fitting. I am 5'8", 145 lbs. and the size small is pretty tight, race-fit. The sleeves for some more muscular men might be an issue but I have medium biceps and they show off the arms nicely. As for the chamois it is very comfortable. Have only worn on a couple rides averaging 50 miles or so and was very happy. If you are looking for more of a club fit then size up one, but if you like something more sleek and streamlined, as I do, then follow the size chart measurements, and if you can buy the pieces separately, cheaper that way.

Gorgeous jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Material is easily my favorite jersey so far. The arm bands are by far the most comfortable I have experienced. Only complaint is that sizing seems to runs small. I have a 38-40" chest in most labels, however the Medium here is extremely tight but whats really odd is how short it is in the front. Not sure if thats the difference between a racer cut and I didnt mark it down for this.

A good looking performer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was looking for matching jersey and bibs when I found LG's Classico kit that ticks all the boxes. This jersey is more expensive than jerseys that I have purchased in the past, but a 34% discount made the price more attractive. The fit is excellent and the jersey is cut to conform to the contours of your body. Moisture management is also excellent even in conditions with 90 degrees and 90% humidity. I ride 80 miles every Saturday and this jersey does not get soaking wet and stick to your skin.
If buying the kit do not choose the kit option, the price is cheaper if you buy the jersey and bibs individually.

Classico Perfecto

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This was my first jersey purchase from Garneau, and I've already bought more based on this one. The pockets are a good size for several random things you might want to carry along a medium to long ride. The great fit to it really accentuates my biceps which helps attract females in high dollar convertibles and detracts d-bags in trucks.

Completes The Classico Kit Nicely

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Coming off of my rare 5-star review of the Louis Garneau Classico Bib Short
(read here: http://beta.competitivecyclist.com/louis-garneau-classico-bib-short?_requestid=2908969)
you're probably looking for me to gush over the matching jersey. While I won't be gushing (ew), I will be placing heavy praise as the Classico Jersey complements the awesome bib shorts perfectly.
The Diamond Fabric definitely works as longer rides in the hot Utah summer aren't really fazing me as much as when I wear other jerseys. The pocket layout of smaller on both sides and bigger in the middle works very well for during-ride organization. The style is also really cool (okay, gushing here a bit).
If I'm going to harp on anything, it may as well be the fit. I went with a large and while I am 5' 11", 180 with a shorter torso and shorter arms, I have a smallish waist and shoulders of a 6' 3" person. The Large fit the waist well, the shoulders are a little tight than I would like and the negative I'm trying to bring across is that it doesn't feel consistent with the bibs as the jersey runs a bit smaller.
