Keo power.

You've done your research in the hunt for your perfect power meter, created all the charts, weighed your priorities, and come to the conclusion that a pedal-based power meter fits best with your riding style and desire to keep installation costs limited to restocking the beverage refrigerator in your bike maintenance shed. If you're also partial to your Look pedal system, then your search ends at the Look Cycle Keo Dual Mode Regular Power Meter Pedals. Pairing accurate power measurement with Look's renowned Keo pedal system, these pedals install quickly in the comfort of your own home so you can get clipped in and out on the road without any delays. As an added bonus, that easy installation means you're able to swap them quickly from bike to bike if needed.

Similar to other pedal-based power meters seen on the market, the Keos utilize a transmitter pod attached to each pedal spindle, which gathers information from the eight strain gauges tucked inside the pedal axle. This design allows this system to precisely measure power output individually for each leg at a claimed accuracy of +/-2%, which is comparable to other pedal-based power systems. As the Keo gathers power data, it also reads cadence and determines pedaling efficiency by looking for dead spots, pedal rotation consistency, and balance between the left and right pedals. In a world where marginal gains matter, being able to analyze your pedal stroke and correct inefficiencies is an easy way to gain a few precious watts that could be the difference between an inconspicuous mid-pack finish and raising your arms in the podium photo.

Aesthetically, the Keo Dual Mode Power Meter Pedal mimics the standard Keo very closely, with an injected carbon pedal body, a wide platform for a confident connection, and a protective stainless steel plate. The pedal does take on a slightly beefier side profile, which is necessary to house those all-important strain gauges within the axle. It still maintains a svelte 17.5mm stack height, sitting a mere 4.5mm higher than the standard Keo Blade pedals and 1.8mm higher than the Keo 2 Max. For the gram-conscious cyclists, a pair of these pedals weighs (transmitter pods included) weighs in at a claimed 398g, which is just 150g more than Look's top-end, non-metering pedals. All in all, the slight gains in weight and stack are miniscule concessions in the trade-off to gain versatile power-tracking functionality.

This pedal system communicates wirelessly via both ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart protocols, pairing with your favorite brand of head unit or device to relay data and create files to upload and analyze at your leisure via nearly any third-party training app. Each transmitter pod features a rechargeable battery with a claimed lifespan of 150 hours, which is quickly recharged using the included charging dock. The pedals come packaged with transmitter pods, Keo Grip cleats, screws, base station, and tools.
