Description

Size matters.

There is no shame in liking a little extra padding around your bars. We've lost count of the number of pro bikes we've seen with double-wrapped bars, ready to tackle the spring classics. And for those who dislike wearing cycling gloves, a nicely padded handlebar is de rigueur. Lizard Skins DSP 2.5 Handlebar Tape offers the same super grip that the 1.8 variation does, but with the added comfort of 0.8mm more padding.

Now, 0.8mm might not sound like a lot, and indeed Lizard Skins is careful not to give it a foamy, slightly blundering feel. It's just a whisper of extra padding, but it could make the difference between numb hands and all day comfort. The DSP 2.5 Bar Tape shares the same high tech feel that their 1.8 tape has, but with a different design pattern. In fact, if you take a close look, it resembles a file tread pattern like you might see on an all-weather road tire. It has more texture than other tapes we've used, and that's not by accident. The tape is intended to facilitate the movement of your hands form one position to the other, but there is no hint of unwanted slip, even with ungloved hands.

Each roll of tape is 82 inches long, so you'll be able to wrap your bars without having to resort to overly pulling and stretching the tape. In fact, that is something that the folks at Lizard Skins are keen to caution you against doing. Be firm in pressing the tape into place and space it evenly, but don't pull at it too much because that will reduce its durability.

Lizard Skins DSP 2.5 Handlebar Tape comes in Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Red, and White. The package includes 2 rolls of tape, 2 bar-end plugs, and 2 finishing strips. Its claimed weight is only 50 grams per set, which means even weight-weenies can get the ultimate comfort without sacrificing a gram.

Comfortable.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tape is great! I've been riding my cross bike with this stuff on for a few weeks now, and I don't wear gloves. Great comfort on long dirt/pavement road rides! Easy to wrap and tons of color options!

Great tape

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this tape in white and the only complaint I have is that it gets dirty easily (as would any white bar tape). I love it. Great feel, great grip.

Comfortable and looks awesome!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Some of my favorite bar tape I've tried thus far. Forgot my gloves on a 50 mile ride and never once had an issue and no sore hands afterwards, I was pleasantly surprised. Maintains color, grippyness, perfect amount of padding without feeling bulky.

Comfortable and looks awesome!

Excellent Tape

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Yes its expensive compared to cork tapes but it will outlast it by far. Have it on both my bikes, excellent grip and damping without overdoing it. I have about 3k on both this season and the tape is still holding up well but will be due to be replaced for next season mostly just to stay looking fresh.

Tacky Grip

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've never had better bar tape. This is by far my favorite tape I've wrapped my bars with. The rubber is super tacky and feels cushy. I wrapped my bars back in March and it has withstood the test of wet spring storms to pouring sweat in the summer months. Still hasnt unraveled. Wipes off clean with a rag and some cleaner.

It's a must have if you race.

Nice bar tape!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love LS tape. Has a great tacky feel and when wet I experience no slippery feel to it like some post I have read. The tape goes on eay and while I have used both the 2.5mm thick I prefer actually the 1.8mm thick version. Very durable and if need be no gloves needed. It is a bit pricey but you will be happy with the tape I am sure. Now if LS tape was $20 a pack I am sure LS would sell the daylights out of it. It is consistent in price from one retailer to the next with usually only a $4 variation at best so I assume LS sets a price floor on this stuff. So if your changing out your old bar tape and need a new grip tape try it out.............I am sure you will like it.

Gloves not needed

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this bar tape. I don't like wearing gloves and I like feeling close to my bike. With this bar tape I get the padding I need, but still feel close to my bike. They are also super easy to clean when they get dirty.

Extra Padding.

This bar tape is as fun to squeeze as pumping the suspension on your mountain bike is. I bought yellow and after hundreds of miles the color still looks clean.

Riding on this tape for awhile. No real wear, or anything. Good buy, and will buy from BC.com again when these wear out.

Great padding

Easy to install, love the improved feel

It was easy to replace my old Fizik tape. Once on, my hands have enjoyed the extra padding. I considered upgrading my handlebar from the current FSA Wing pro compact, but after using this for 2 months I am already happy with the improvement. The white has stayed clean.

Lasted 2 Months (35 hours of riding)

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After just 2 months of riding the black vinyl coating is wearing off in the places where I hold my bars. I have had $19 bar tape (Cinelli) last 2 years and this $35 tape barely lasted two months. When I read the description and saw the price I made the mistake of assuming it was going to be a very durable bar tape. I was wrong. Where the vinyl has worn off, the grey cloth backing is now exposed. I also installed this bar tape on my wife's bike and she has the identical premature wearing. Terrible product.

Great bartape

This is a thicker tape and I love it, adds a little padding which is needed since I use it on my cross bike. I wont go to anything else.

very grippy

This is excellent tape. Very grippy with good padding, too. I recommend it.

Lizard skin bar tape.

I love this tape. Nice texture and super grippy. If you go with the PRO white tape on your road bike like I do. It can be cleaned with soap and water. Keeps you looking PRO all season. Good stuff!

Lizard Skin 2.5mm bar tape.

Do you love that tacky feel of bar tape? Well, if you do than this is the tape for your. Soft with out having to add gel inserts. Expensive yes, but the rubber texture allows me to keep my white tape looking white because I can scrup it clean. I get atleast a road season out of it and that is riding minium 4 days a week. Also, it stretches way better than cork tape.

Great Stuff

Built my first road bike with this tape. I love my lock-on grips on my MTB, so I jumped on this tape. First time ever wrapping a handlebar and it came out pretty damn good. I credit the tapes strength as it is much less stretchy than the Deda foam I tried afterwards. It took me half as many retries to get the DSP to wrap satisfactorily. The grip is fantastic with or without gloves, whereas I felt "floaty" on the foam, especially sweating without gloves. Rain, sweat, dust, have no effect on this tape. With the figure-8 wrap under my SRAM hoods the bar has a full and solid feel.
