Lezyne LED Super Drive XL Front Light w/ACC $0.00
The only night rides where we can remember turning off our lights are those occasional full-moon nights when the air is clear and crisp. And seeing as those nights are sparse, the rest of the nights we wonder why companies don't make headlights that are bright enough to actually see where we're riding. Lezyne has addressed this with its Lezyne Super Drive XL Front Light with Accessories supplies the necessary lumens, battery life, and ease-of-use that's needed for the blackest of nights.
The most obvious difference between the Super Drive XL and other lights is the CNC-machined aluminum body. In the event that you take a spill (not hard to do on a trail at night), the Super Drive can handle it. The machined aluminum body also dissipates heat, which has a tendency to damage Li-ion batteries over time. And, in true Lezyne fashion, it looks good. After all, you don't want some cheap plastic light perched on the handlebars of your carbon race machine -- right? The Super Drive now has a redesigned power button that increases the headlight's water- and weather-resistance. How? Well, the new power button hides the Green and Red LED's that allow you to monitor battery level without losing a pedal stroke. When the headlight is on, the indicator (located on top of the light housing) will be either Green, Red, or flashing Red to indicate power level.
Lezyne's Infinite Light feature is another innovation that adds versatility and usability for endurance riders, 24-hour racers, or anyone planning to out-ride the battery's burn time. If you burn out your battery, just pop it out and slide in a fully-charged Li-ion. It sounds simple, but it's a rare feature among trail lights. Additionally, it allows you to ride as long as you want, depending on the number of backup-batteries that you decide to carry.
Another trail-enhancing innovation is Lezyne's Constant Current technology. Constant Current delivers even and constant lumen output over the entire life of the battery without any dimming or fading out as the battery loses charge. This feature increases efficiency in order to allow the Super Drive to burn brighter and longer. The Super Drive is also equipped with Lezyne's Maximum Optical Reflection (MOR) one-piece lens technology. The result is a light with fewer parts and a smoother, wider Uniform Power Beam.
The Super Drive has three modes: Blast (500 lumens), Enduro (350 lumens), and Economy (175 lumens). The battery is good for 1.5 hours, 2.5 hours, and 5 hours in each mode, respectively. Lezyne's side visibility technology also makes the Super Drive visible from 180 degrees at night.
It includes an Li-ion rechargeable battery, rechargeable 18650 batteries, a USB charger, and a Composite Matrix handlebar mount that fits both 25.4 and 31.8mm bars. And with the Fully Loaded package, Lezyne is also throwing in a Composite Matrix helmet mount and a spare Li-ion battery. Lezyne estimates that a full battery-recharge takes around five hours, and the light tips the scales around 140 grams without any mounting hardware.
The Lezyne Super Drive XL Loaded Front Light is available in one size and in the colors Black/hi-gloss Polished Silver/hi gloss.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
The Lezyne Super Drive XL is a well designed and quality built tool which illuminates the roads and trails brighter while lasting longer than I expected from reading reviews alone.
I went with the bundle but have not yet needed to swap for the second battery. It is nice having separate bar mounts for the road and mountain bikes though.
With hi and low beans (race mode) I shield the headlight with my left hand so not to blind approaching riders/pedestrians despite the aim of the light being low and away.

Bright light; solid design.
I have been using this light for pre-dawn trail rides. It totally lives up to the advertised promises. The housing feels bulletproof & the handlebar mount is simple + secure. Installation & removal are very easy.
The spare battery is great, although I really haven't needed it yet as most of my dark rides are under 2 hours.
The single track trails are well illuminated by this light and I feel like I can go almost as fast in the dark as I can in daylight.
Only con: it's kind of heavy, but I don't think you can get away from that with an integrated battery compartment.

I like that the battery is swapable. When my Nite Rider died, this was the choice. I like the metal casing. My kids have already taken it and dropped a few times. I am not convinced this has true 180 visibility like the Light and Motion stuff. It feels like their lense housing tweak was more a marketing ploy than to provide true side visibility. The mount is rock solid. I wish it came it came with two so I didn't have to move it to switch bikes. The flashing mode is a nice pleasant flash that doesn't kill me or on lookers. The lighting levels are distinct and appropriate. The 575 lumens does well in the city as well as on non technical trails. I like the lower settings for commuting since it doesn't overly blink people. The housing heats up and so it can only be used as a hand held flashlight for a few minutes. I feel the charging could be faster.
