Lezyne Smart Chainstay Protector $10.00
Protect your chainstay from chain slap when blasting through rough stuff with Lezyne's Smart Chainstay Protector. Hook-and-loop attachments make this Lezyne protector stupidly easy to install, while its durable rubber-lined neoprene stretches for a tight fit so as to keep this protector from looking like a saggy tube sock wrapped around your impeccable bicycle's chainstay.

I had to make it work
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I ride a 2012 Salsa Spearfish and the Medium was a little big right out of the bag. But, on the upside, Lezyne gives you a generous amount of velcro on both sides. So I trimmed a little off each side and still had a sufficient amount to apply it tight. Chain stay protectors (slap guards) are generally made of something stretchy, like neoprene, so you want to run a little smaller than the diameter of your chain stay. You want it on there tight so it doesn't move around. One pleasant surprise about this product was that the logo on the backside (not pictured) is way cooler than the front logo. Instead of one big Lezyne logo, the backside is bunch of smaller Lezyne logos at a forty five degree angle to the chain stay, so it looks more like an abstract pattern and less like an advertisement. The backside material feels a little less rugged than the frontside but, to me, the backside graphic is worth showing.
I ordered a medium for my 29er and it was huge. I think the sizing refers to how big of a chainstay it fits and not the length, which i based my size off the length because of a review below. I would order a small for 75% of the bikes out there and if you have a huge chain stay on a downhill bike then maybe go with the med or large. Looks sexier than the lizzard skins for sure!
