I bought the small size to replace a larger Blackburn, and misc frame pumps used on other bikes. I decided not to mount it on the bottle cage due to vanity (don't like the clutter on the frame). Carries easily in jersey pocket, so light I don't notice it. Quality is evident. I really enjoy how easy it is to flip from presta to schraeder, since I have kids bikes to support. Not like the other clamp-on styles where you have to unscrew the head, try to knock the bits out and flip them around, etc. The screw-on connector has a much more positive connection than the clamp-on styles, and avoids bent valve stems. With 23mm road tires I can get up to 90 psi with about 150-170 strokes. Towards the high end, it does get a little painful on the palm, due to the sharp lip where the rubber cap attaches, but a trick is to flip the rubber cap over so it fits in the hole, and then there's a bit more padding to push against. The o-rings can roll off, so you have to watch that, but not a big deal. In 6-8 months I've only had to use it once on the road so far, when a friend flatted, and I let him figure out the pump on his own, just to see. He was back in business quickly with no coaching. Recently he asked me what kind of pump it was - he was impressed and intends to buy one. I also have the Classic Floor Drive. I've seen comments, here and elsewhere, about unscrewing the valve core, but I've used both this and the floor drive on 5 different presta bikes with no issues. I can only imagine there's either a handful of factory defects out there, or people are doing something wrong. Overall I can't say enough about this pump. I love it.
Pretty doesn't make it good.
My experience with this pump is just like all the rest of the Lezyne crap I've used. It sucks. The valve connection is a pain in the ass and the design isn't any better than anything else out there. Oh, and good luck not unscrewing your Presta valve core when attempting to release the hose. Design: average, Function: poor, Looks: nice. So go ahead, buy one. You'll regret it in a week.
would this function as a good mountain...
would this function as a good mountain bike pump?
Probably not, as it is more of a high pressure pump than a high volume. I'd suggest getting the high volume pump as mtn.tyres tend to have lower pressure but higher volumes.
This pump is awesome. I bought it for my travel bike, as I need an efficient and effective pump for not only all the flats a get riding on chip seal roads in europe, but every time I unpack and build my bike. It's well designed, durable, and gorgeous looking. Most importantly, it works. 100+psi in no time.
Gets it done
I got this pump to replace a Blackburn Air Stik Long Neck pump. The Blackburn had difficulty getting to 60 psi on a Hybrid tire that needs 80. The Lezyne went from 0 to 80 in about 200 strokes which was acceptable to me. So, not only would it simply get me back on the road, but also up to optimum pressure.
Red/High Gloss - M
Much more effective than a table tennis paddle for a flat.
A little on the large side for a jersey, but perfect for a commuter/mess pack, in a pinch.
Great pump on the road
I carry this pump with me every time I ride, which hasn't been that long since I'm new to road biking, but I did use it last week to help out a biker I saw stranded on the side of the road having issues. This was the first time I used this pump. It assembled in seconds and attached (screw on) really well to the Presta valve, and it could not have been but 20 pumps before the tire had plenty of pressure to easily get back him on the road to catch up to his group. Worked flawlessly and was super effective, and fast.
