To see is human, to be seen is divine–at least at night in traffic. Lezyne designed the Mini Drive XL Front Light for folks who want a bright, durable, lightweight headlight that won't break the bank and won't take up too much handlebar real estate. The Mini Drive XL is also self-contained, so there are no messy wires or separate battery packs to deal with–just your bike, your light, and the road.

The most obvious difference between the Mini Drive XL and other lights is the CNC-machined aluminum body. In the event that you take a spill (not hard to do on a trail at night), the Mini Drive can handle it. The machined aluminum body also dissipates heat, which can damage Li-ion batteries over time. It also looks good. You'll downplay the importance of style, but let's face it–you don't want to hang some cheap, plastic gumball-machine headlight on your race machine. The Mini Drive is sporting a redesigned power button that increases the headlight's water- and weather-resistance. The new power button hides the green and red LED's that allow you to monitor battery level without losing a pedal stroke. When the headlight is on, the indicator (locator on top of the light housing) will be either green, red, or flashing red to indicate power level.

Lezyne’s Infinite Light feature is another unique innovation that adds versatility and usability for endurance riders, 24-hour racers, or anyone planning to outride the battery’s burn time. If you burn out your battery, just pop it out and slide in a fully charged Li-ion. It sounds simple but it’s a rare feature among trail lights and it allows you to ride as long as you want, depending on the number of backup-batteries you decide to carry. The Mini Drive is also equipped with Lezyne's Maximum Optical Reflection one-piece internal reflection technology. The result is a light with fewer parts and a smoother, wider Uniform Power Beam.

The Mini Drive has four modes: Blast (200 lumens), Enduro (100 lumens), Economy (50 lumens), and Flash (100 lumens). The battery is good for 1.5 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, and 6 hours in each mode, respectively. Lezyne's side visibility technology makes the Mini Drive visible from 180 degrees at night without illuminating your handlebars, which can be distracting. It includes Li-ion, rechargeable batteries and a USB charger, and a nylon handlebar mount.

The Lezyne Mini Drive XL Bicycle Headlight comes in Black and Silver and is compatible with 31.8mm or 25.4mm road or mountain handlebars.

light

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The price is right, easy on/off, no flashing mode,Doesnt last long in high beam, only 90 minutes. But its a good backup to my main 2 1/2 hr light...I think it makes a good backup light.

Light the way

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is an excellent, and great-looking, light. I first used it on a 3.5 day trip from Chicago to St Louis and it worked very well in lighting up unfamiliar small town roads after dark. I use it on my daily city commute and I think that the flashing mode makes me more visible to traffic. As the days get shorter in winter, I will us it more and more. Mounting was a snap, and charging is super-easy. Finally, while beauty is only skin deep, it helps that this is a great looking light. Rather than detract from the look of my ride, it adds to it. Buy one!

Awesome Light!

I already have the Super Drive for on the bike, but wanted this smaller Mini unit for helmet mount. It works good, not too bright, but it sticks out too much for off-road, so just use it on-road. It is well built, nice and light, easy to use, easy to recharge using USB and in a pinch can use off the shelf batteries.

Good little light!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought a pair of these for offroad rides in the dark on my MTB. For the size and weight, they handily beat my 3 year old Cateye external battery lights. The mount is solid, the lights detatch easily, and can be charged via USB in pretty short order. I really like the hard aluminum case and overall construction. This isn't a cheapo light. I'll be waiting for a sale on other Lezyne lights for my other bikes.

Not impressed

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I knew going with this purchase that I might not be satisfied with the output and I was not shocked of the outcome. I ride more technical trails and really feel this light is more geared towards leisurely rides through the neighborhood. So my overall rating of "Not Recommended" is more for the intermediate/advanced riders.
