Description

Skinny is the new black.

We're not going to pull any punches, here. If you've been looking at the new Levi's Commuter line, and you haven't found any pants that are skinny enough for your taste, these Commuter 510 5-Pocket Denim Pants are for you. Essentially, this is the slimmest cut that Levi's has to offer, making them ideal for both men and women. That's why we picked up sizes as low as 26x30. Finally, your commuting gear is up to snuff with your fashion sensibilities.

These aren't some run-of-the-mill, one-off attempt at appeasing a subculture. Instead, Levi's worked closely with cyclists in multiple cities around America, distributing prototypes and accepting feedback. And, as a result of developing the pants in accordance to critique, Levi's effectively dialed-in the fit, accoutrements, and finishes to what cyclists are actually asking for.

Accordingly, Levi's adapted its skinny-fit 510s to the purpose of cycling. Now, the 510 features a water-resistant and dirt-repellent NanoSphere protective finish to make commuting in hostile weather a little more acceptable, especially if your destination is the office. It's for this very reason that Levi's also incorporated an odor-resistant Sanitized finish to the pants, too. Levi's also made these pants perfect for trips where your bag is staying at home by installing a U-lock holster along the rear of the waistband. This way, you're not ramming your lock down your pants, wearing out your belt, or being forced to wear a fanny-pack.

In terms of durability, Levi's double-layered the seat panel and the rear pockets. Additionally, the crotch of the 510 is gusseted in order to resist tearing and saddle abrasion. In terms of fit, it's important to note that Levi's considers the 510 as a skinny-fit pair of pants. They sit slightly below the waist and feature a skinny, slightly tapered leg. However, for the sake of coverage while in the saddle, these 510s have been cut higher in the rear than a standard pair.

For the pockets, these pants have been given two hand, two rear, and one coin pocket. And to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, Levi's incorporated reflective 3M Scotchlite tape on the interior of the pant's cuffs.

The Levi's Commuter 510 5-Pocket Denim Pants are available in the colors Black and Rigid Indigo and in the sizes 26x30, 27x30, 28x30, 29x30, 30x30, 30x32, 32x32, 33x32, 33x34, 34x30, 34x32, and 36x32.

Here's what others have to say...

Classic Fit

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Levis Commuter is my favorite pant that I own now and they have replaced almost all of my old pants. Classic Levis fit and fashion but has the stretch that I love, anti stink tech(which is awesome when I show up at the office), super strong along with the D-lock stash in the belt loop, and reflectors in the cuff. I've always worn Levis and this just makes me love them that much more!

Wrong size...

Good quality, but I realized I am content with my ankle strap and returned them.

Not just for dudes.

These jeans are sweet. I'm 5' 2" and wear a 27/30. They fit well despite my initial skepticism since they're advertised for guys. The things I like the most: they are heavy-duty and the reflective strip on the interior cuff is a nice touch. While the high waist isn't the most flattering, it is practical for pedaling a bike. The one thing I don't like about these jeans is the u-lock holster. I had no idea what it was until I looked it up. I'm not hipster enough for that!

Oh yeah, I love that the tag says "Wash less, wash cold, line dry. Donate or recycle."

NOT BAD AT ALL

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

probably the best quality jeans i have ever bought. very comfortable and nice crotch room. Not really that skinny, more like a slim. Fits true to size.Had to wash and dry em like 3 times just to tighten em up

better than regular 510's

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been wearing 510's the last few years, they just fit me better than anything else out there, and they are relatively cheap, especially on sale. However, there are a few problems with regular 510's. The main problem is that the crotch wears out SO fast, especially if you bike commute, which I do, about 4 miles/day. After 5 or 6 months, you get a hole there, and it's ugly, and ruins an otherwise good pair of jeans. These have the crotch gusset, so they should last twice as long, and they feel pretty burly near the balls, I'm impressed.

On top of that, they are "waterproof." I wore them today in a light drizzle, and water beaded right up and rolled off. Nice feature. I'm sure it won't last long, but it's still pretty cool.

I don't care about the lock holder on the waist, or the reflective accents when you roll the cuffs, those are things that you don't see if you wear jeans without rolling and a belt. So it's cool.

They run true to size for 510's. I normally wear a 33x30, which they don't stock here, but the 32x30 is fine, a little snug, but still comfortable.

Overall, better than regular 510's, at not too much extra cost on sale. Will be purchasing more.

Only jeans I wear now

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have a few of the other colors as well. With a guy with skinny legs, I really like the slimmer fit around my calves, and the length of the legs. Of course the cool features of the U-Lock holder and reflective cuff strip, and water resistant material for bonuses. I love these jeans, I'd definitely recommend them to anyone

Good Lookin' Jeans

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like these jeans, they are stylish and won't get caught in your chain ring. Levi makes a great product. They are pretty durable too, I've taken a few falls on them and they have held up fine. They do loosen up slightly through out the day but I sure do love them!

my favorite pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

these pants are friggin awesome!!!! I have two pairs of them and I just cycle them every other day, and I have no issues. Levies makes the best denim that I have ever worn.

Super skinny

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Yep, i missed that line in the specs! That said they are very comfortable. They stretch and move with you. I went climbing in them the other day and had no problems. I also have a pair of the commuter 511's and have to say these are some of the most comfortable jeans I've owned.
