Have a scar-free summer.

Your old pair of knee guards loyally served you for a few seasons, but after your last explosive crash on a rock-encrusted section of trail, you realized they were practically begging for retirement. Choosing which set of knee guards to invest in exposes you to an intimidatingly huge range of options, so before you close your eyes and point to a random spot on your screen to make a decision, you could consider Leatt's softshell 3DF 5.0 Knee Guard.

Built with a serious focus on safety and featuring a breathable, lightweight design, these pull-on guards come complete with silicone-printed elastic cuffs and a hook-and-loop strap for a secure fit. They use soft 3DF cushioning to protect you during everyday trail rides. An outer Aramid layer holds its own during unexpected run-ins with trailside boulders and trees, and new this year, Leatt managed to slim the design down by 25% while retaining a CE certification and providing extended coverage along the sides of the knees.

Knee protection is pretty choice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My first couple of rides I got pinch spots behind my knees but once I figured out to leave the velcro straps undone on the climbs and the hot spots healed and hardened, these have been great knee pads! Easy to bike in and very comfortable. Not major crashes on them yet but I feel a lot safer with them on.
