Here, kitty kitty.

If someone meows at you, it's not because of a lack of manners. It's probably because you're wearing the La Sportiva Women's Wildcat 3.0 Trail Running Shoe—and barely touching the ground while bouncing along the trails. This plush running shoe takes you from your front door in the city to the nether reaches of the urban trail system you've come to frequent on a daily basis. An all-terrain sole tackles paved avenues and gravel paths with ease, and even enjoys the occasional outing on a tepidly technical trail. While usually it's an insult, when you're gnashing the trails and someone calls you kitten, take the compliment in stride (and keep on running).
Air mesh upper lets your toes feel a breeze without getting tanked in sweat. The TrailCage 2 frame pounces on your paw so your foot isn't slipping within the shoe with every step. Asymmetrical lacing is the great equalizer of this shoe, as it redistributes tightening tension all over you foot for a fantastic feel and incredible range of motion. An injection-molded EVA midsole provides opulent cushioning step after step for miles on end. The 12mm drop makes minimalists shudder, but heel-strikers and midfoot-hitters will enjoy the soft ride.
The Women's Tempo last offers a gender-biased fit for this all-terrain monster so you're not stuffing tissues into your hubby's shoe to fill the extra space ... not that you have practice stuffing tissues in places. The TPU trankinetic heel stabilizer and flex-transfer shank help steady your foot over variable terrain while adding just a bit of spring to your step. FriXion AT soles dominate nearly every surface situation, conquering concrete and trails alike. The Impact Brake System X-Axis transforms lugs into stabilizing forces while you travel the rolling hills of your town or favorite maze of trails.

large volume, super comfy trail shoe

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 41.0

PHOTO: Wildcat 3 on the left, Bushido on the right.

I've always hiked in boots, but my cousin did the PCT in his Wildcats... so I wanted to try them. I also tried the LaSportiva Bushidos (see that review / photo also)

SIZE: I wear a 9/41.3 in my Salomon hiking boots (my dress shoes are 39.5). I liked the W in 41.0, but the 41.5 for the B due to the narrower toe box. Find the EU size of shoes you like and you'll be fine. Wildcats (W) are much roomier than Bushidos (B) in toe box, height from sole to laces, midfoot and heel. That would normally be a stopper for me (wide forefoot but narrow instep and heel)... but these shoes are very soft and can be cranked down with the laces. So I can see how these would be great for long hikes where your feet swell.

SUPPORT: The softness and lack of reinforcements over the mesh make me worry about whether they'd hold up bushwacking, and offer enough lateral support on uneven trails. - didn't test that... The heel cup is deep and feels good. The heel support is amazing - check out the tall gray plastic supports on the W heel (either side of your achilles). B has some support but shorter. There's only minimal arch support - I'd replace the insole, but absolutely replace it if you pronate .

GRIP: Didn't test these outside, but internet says it's great and the treads look like they'll get it done. The W is a 12mm (standard) drop, while the B is only 6mm. If you're carrying a heavier load or worried about stone bruises try the W. If you like to really feel the trail, or you're easing into barefoot shoes try the B.

large volume, super comfy trail shoe

Best shoes every

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Worn everyday all day. For work, play or just working in the yard. Short break in time, very comfortable, and breathable.

Nice and sticky for the trail

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I've worn these several times now and was more surprised at the comfort level than anything.

I haven't used them for the trails yet, too much snow, but I did run on some loose dirt and gravel and felt stable. I purchased a 42, which is a size 10 but they were about a size too big. I would recommend going a 1/2 to a full size down, depending on if you use an orthotic insert and/or thick socks. Next time, I will go 1/2 size down to leave a little room.

The first time I put them on, I was a little concerned because the sole felt a little too rigid and I knew that I would be starting on the pavement. I went about 5 miles each time I've used these, so far. I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't as jarring as I initially thought they would be on the pavement. With that said, I will choose not to use these when I know that there will be longer stretches of pavement involved.

I'm excited for spring and summer to hit the trails and really push these. I've loved my La Sportiva's in the past and am glad to add these to my collection.

Great hiking shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 10

My girlfriend was in desperate need of some new hiking shoes, so I bought these as a gift since I love my own Wildcats. They have a great sticky sole and provide a good amount of support. Even though she's put dirtied them up quite a bit already, she wont take them off.
