Finally, a fork mount rack for everyone.

We know exactly what you're thinking—this won't work for me, I have a thru-axle. Well it does. The Kuat Trio Fork Mount System works with 9mm, 15mm, and 20mm front axles. And because it's a fork mount, it will accommodate any frame design. The Trio also has the sleek, modern style that not only looks good but saves fuel. The icing on the cake is Kuat's integrated cable lock system, which secures the frame and rear wheel to the rack.

  • Compatible with 9mm, 15mm, and 20mm axles
  • Compatible with any frame design
  • Works with quick-release and thru-axles
  • Integrated cable lock system

Unanswered Question

Would this roof rack interfere with the hatch door on a Subaru Crosstrek? I'm using the Thule Aeroblades and moved it as far forward as possible. Thanks

Will this work with Thule crossbars

Will this work with Thule crossbars

According to Kuat it will fit cross bars that are "Max crossbar size-3.5? wide by 1.7? thick". I just measured my square bars and this should work on that just fine, I would be very skeptical of the Aero Bars though.

Yes, it works on Thule crossbars, and Yakima too, I think. I have a Saab rack on my Saab, which uses the same size crossbars as Thule, and it's no problem.

One thing to note about this rack, is that the front mounting point is not adjustable, so the rear of the rack may or may not clear on open tailgate from a hatchback. For me ( '99 Saab 9-3), it just clears, so no problem. For some other cars it might not work at all.

BTW, at $200, the rack is quite overpriced, considering the refinement of construction and materials. It works fine, but has some bugs, which a supposedly high end manufacturer like Kuat should have figured out.

The 3 different fork mount options are nice though, which is the main reason I picked this rack. I would not pay more than $100 for it, however.

One of the main irritations is that without a bike loaded, there is a fluttering/vibration noise from the rear wheel mount or the recessed cable lock that happens while driving. I have jammed a piece of wood in to stop this, but should not have to on a rack of this price.

I also had to call Kuat for a second rear mount kit for the rear bar, as the one included withe the rack was made of unusable cheap crap. The replacement one they sent me was fine.

In all, the rack works fine, and holds the bike securely, but again, the lack of refinement leads me to think that Kuat rushed this to production. Hopefully future editions will be better, as the overall design is good, and has a high degree of functionality.

Even Phat Bike Compatible!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

The newest offering from Kuat is lightweight, looks awesome, fits quick release and thru axel out of the box and even has a Phat Fork compatible accessory option! The Integrated Cable Lock on the back and custom bolts on the front add nice security features!
