Bring the beach to the trail.

Sweet mango and chewy coconut bring a taste of the beach to the trail in Kate's Real Food's Tiki Bars. Kate's Real Food prides itself on using wholesome, organic ingredients, so you're able to enjoy sustained energy on your two-wheeled adventures. And, even better, the Tiki Bar is soy-, dairy-, and peanut-free, bringing amazing taste for those who require gluten-free energy.

Kate Schade didn't set out in the energy bar business to make a quick buck. She started out by making bars for her to enjoy, and lucky for the rest of us, her standards are high. What she created were on-the-go bars made from real, organic food. And, with one hand in farming, she was able to guarantee where those ingredients actually came from. Friends and family tried them, and not surprisingly, they demanded more and more.

That brings us to today's Tiki bar. It's a product that's born to fuel those who care about what they eat and where their ingredients come from. The Tiki bar features a short list of organic ingredients like coconut, honey, mango, almond butter, cashews, and lemon extract. Even better, these delectable tastes have been offset by rice nuggets and sea salt in order to give it a nice balance of salty and sweet. So, the resulting bar hits on all points -- calorie richness, taste, and health. What more could you ask for?

The Kate's Real Food Tiki Bars are available as a box of 12 individually wrapped bars. Please note that these bars contain nuts, and that they are gluten-free. However, given their honey content, they're technically not vegan.

Kate's Crushes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I always keep a couple of these in my pack, winter or summer. Real food bars like Kate's assure that I am not putting low quality calories on board. This is sustainable fuel for mountain adventures, on so many levels. Bonus for me is knowing that this small-scale company sustains local Teton Valley, WYDAHO jobs and is a solid member of the community. Great tasting, sustainable energy, local jobs. Crusher combination.

Tasty Tiki

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The most tropical of all the Kate's bars, I love the Tiki when I'm not feeling chocolate and peanut butter. These are a nice break from your standard bar and bonus: they're vegan. Packed with ingredients I can pronounce and made in the great state of Idaho, this is my go to bar for skiing, backpacking, or just a great snack!

gets you there

gets you there

You can only take so many photos of an energy bar in its element. But its more about where that energy bar can take you anyways. I've always got a kates bar in my pocket. Its amazing how these things will pick you up if you're feeling low!

pretty damn good energy bar

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Its nice to have a bar that is easy to eat in the mountains, when you're working hard and almost have to force yourself to eat. Kates bars don't freeze, so you can actually eat them when its cold out! Imagine that. The mango/coconut/cashew combo here is incredible, so I actually enjoy eating these on the go, which is great.

Pretty Good Energy Bar

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like this energy bar, it is definitely a nice meal to bring with you on the trails. It has more calories than a Cliff bar which is nice and tastes pretty good too. This coconut mango was definitely my favorite flavor that I tried. I always like to bring a few of these with me when I go on longer rides.
