The whole enchilada.

The 2016 Roubion 2.0 Carbon CC X01 Complete Mountain Bike is the whip of choice for riders looking to roost berms and bomb through big drops and epic trails at speed. With six inches of plush travel, the Roubion lives for big airs and rough terrain and boasts neutral geometry and a lightweight frame to turn around and slay climbs with the best of them, which isn’t surprising given that its original goal was to be the ultimate enduro race bike. Paired with a Fox Float X Factory rear shock, a Pike RCT3 fork, and a dose of SRAM X01 componentry and Guide brakes, this bike is ready hit the kind of trails that tend to hit back.

It’s no secret that we love the Roubion, and it’s fairly easy to see why. First, 27.5-inch wheels have quickly become the standard wheel size for enduro riders who push it because of the mid-wheel size's responsive handling and fast rolling speed. Then there’s the 150mm of rear travel, which is primed to smooth out harsh trails, while the VPP suspension platform lends efficient pedaling on the climbs. For 2016, Juliana updates the suspension links with the top link directly mounted on the top tube and the lower link tucked neatly out of the way to increase stiffness and durability while also smoothing the ride.

All of that, and we still haven't gotten into the neutral geometry, which descends with aplomb and generally rips whether up or down. The key to this versatility is the head angle, which has been dropped from 67 to 66 degrees. That sounds like a tiny change, but it provides even more high-speed stability than the previous Roubion. At 17.05 inches, the chainstays are long enough to keep you centered on the bike, yet short enough to allow the Roubion to carve up turns with ease.

Both the front and rear triangles are constructed as a whole, rather than bonding them together from sub-assemblies. In addition to saving weight, it ensures that the Roubion is as strong as possible. That's because the fibers are uninterrupted by seams, which happens with other construction methods. If you were to cut it in half, you'd find that the inside of the tubes have the same perfectly smooth finish as the outside. (But don't. Just trust us, instead.) That's a result of construction techniques that maximize the compaction of the layers. The benefit is that the frame is lighter because any excess epoxy is squeezed out prior to curing with an ideal degree of compaction that optimizes strength. The frame's strength and stiffness are further enhanced with the mechanic-friendly, 15mm collet-style hardware and a pair of Boost 148/110mm thru-axles.
