Description

Like the bikes, Juliana's Lock-On Grips were developed with the needs of more petite riders in mind, and are only compatible with Juliana handlebars. This means the grips have a smaller diameter so female riders can wrap their hands around them. This, however, does not come with a sacrifice in comfort because of the smaller diameter used on the Juliana Handlebar.

The Juliana Lock-On Grips use a soft rubber with hexagon shapes to reduce shock and vibration during off-road adventures. To keep the grip in place, a locking collar securely attaches it to handlebars. The Juliana Lock-On Grips come in five colors; Pink, White, Gray, Persimmon, and Black.

Good use of space

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Loving my Juliana overall, but decided to try some thicker diameter grips and wider bars. In the process however, a nice feature of these grips was brought to light... They allow you to use every millimeter of your handlebar widths.

It sounds so obvious, but in the process of "upgrading" to a wider bar and a different brand of lock-on grips, I'm realizing that a good chunk of my bar width is getting eaten up by the lock-on at the end and some extra grip molding (unlike these Juliana grips).

So... in wordy conclusion... a tip of my hat to Juliana for saving a little weight and hardware by only using one lock-on on the inside, avoiding the need/use of a lock-on end cap that will probably fall off and get lost anyway, and creating a grip that uses every available bit of width in one's bars.

Also of note.... they say the Juliana lock-on grip is only compatible with the Juliana bars, but I noticed that they fit just fine on both the RaceFace SiXC DH and the RaceFace Next Riser 35mm Handlebars.

I've got a handle on this....

...I think.

Note the wear and tear on this handle from crashing.
I wish they were a little more durable.

Can a bar end be installed? Can't quite...

Can a bar end be installed? Can't quite see the end cap set up on this grip. Thanks!

Hey L Falleroni!
I dipped down into the backcountry.com bike storage zone to take a look at my handlebars for you. Here is a pic!

There's no end cap.

Gripped.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I snapped up the pink grips.
As someone who has hands that are approximately the same size as your average 8-year old, I REALLY appreciate the smaller diameter of these grips. Makes hanging on and braking much easier and less tiresome for me.

If I had to do it again, I would not have gotten pink because it clashes pretty obnoxiously with my orange bike, but oh well.
I've got a black pair on reserve.

Only 4 stars, since they aren't as durable as I would have hoped. Already seeing some scuffs and wear (because I crash a lot).

Otherwise, I like the texture, colors, and specs.
