Quickly becoming a modern classic, the Mojo HD redefined mountain biking with a gravity-focused geometry, 160mm of travel, and a lightweight chassis. And keeping with Ibis' tradition of industry-leading innovation, the HDR builds on that bike's success by cutting a cup-of-lard from the carbon recipe.

Impressively, Ibis accomplished this weight reduction without compromising the original HD's palette-pleasing handling. And like its predecessor, the HDR's front and rear triangles are built from carbon fiber, and employ a process that Ibis has been steadily refining since the first Mojo showed up on the scene in 2005. These refinements have enabled Ibis to shave, roughly, half-a-pound from the HD without sacrificing any strength or stiffness.

Not messing with success, Ibis uses the same head tube insert as the HD, but it did tweak the lower-link. After a clever adjustment, the frame now gets ISCG05 chain guide mounts — so single-ring enthusiasts will have tons of retention options. Additionally, the HDR has a 12x142mm Maxle thru-axle and the ZS44/EC49 Mixed Tapered headset.

In keeping with the "don't mess with perfection" mantra, Ibis left the highly regarded DW-Link suspension design alone (minus the clearance enhancing lower-link). This guaranties the expected plush, yet firm, travel that delineates the Mojo's ride characteristics. And if that sounds like a paradox, let us assure you, it isn't.

The HDR's suspension is designed to provide anti-squat in response to rider input. So, rather than relying on elevated amounts of compression damping to provide a firm feel, the suspension design takes care of that. And since it allows for a lighter compression tune, the rear wheel is free to move out of the way of impacts. The result is a bike that's smooth on the roughest of trails, while remaining firm when you get on the pedals.

The Ibis Mojo HDR comes with a Kashima coated FOX FLOAT CTD rear shock, and it uses a high direct mount front derailleur clamp, a 31.6mm seatpost, and a 68mm bottom bracket. It is available in four sizes from Small to X-Large and in the colors Cobra Blue and Reverse Vitamin P.
