Aside from the Swiss internals, the width of these rims really sets them apart. Their wide, 35mm internal rim width means the tire beads can sit farther apart, which results in greater tire volume and allows for lower tire pressures. This means better traction and handling, because the tire is more free to deform and deflect around obstacles without drastically altering the path of the wheel's momentum. Wider rims also translate into a wider tire footprint, which boosts traction still further while increasing stability. A wider footprint also means that your tire fattens up relative to its labeled size; for example, a 2.2in tire can widen to the volume of a 2.3- or 2.4in tire, depending on the rims themselves, so you can run lighter tires without giving up capability or gnar-ability.
