Ultra-lightweight, ultra-comfortable.

Focus on the road ahead with the Hoka One One Men's Clifton 2 Running Shoes. With an emphasis on lightweight comfort, these shoes weigh in at just over eight ounces and have a no-sew SpeedFrame upper for a streamlined design to reduce unnecessary weight and enhance breathability. A softer, lightly padded tongue provides increased protection across the foot, and structural overlays improve midfoot support, making the Clifton 2s perfect for high-mileage training or 5ks. The early stage meta-rocker geometry encourages a more efficient gait and the compression-molded EVA midsole improves cushioning and stability. The rubber outsole enhances durability and traction for when you really want to push yourself.

How to Measure:
First, measure your foot in millimeters. Then find the corresponding size on the chart. If your size in millimeters matches exactly on the grid, order one size above
Example: If your foot is 262mm, the grid shows it matches up to a US Men's size 8.5 so you should get a US Men's size 9.

Good, Lightweight Shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 12

I have about 50 miles in these now, and that is enough for a fair assessment. I run 15-20 miles/week for general fitness, which usually consists of one day of interval training, one 3-5 mile run at about 7:50 pace, and one longer run at 8:00 pace. So I'm neither an elite runner or a weekend warrior.

Sizing is accurate to a touch small. I usually wear a Size 11.5 or 12 in other shoes and the Size 12 fits just right. My foot is average width and I found ample room in the toe box and mid foot. The ankle area could even be a touch too roomy. My feet are also flat. Very flat, in fact. The Hokas have a bit of an arch. I find it rather uncomfortable while walking, but not even noticeable when running.

These shoes are quite light despite the uniquely designed ample midsole. I expected more of an uncomfortable transition from my previous shoes (Nike Free 5.0), but it hasn't been the running in a platform shoe experience that I expected. I have had exactly zero foot or ankle pain in these shoes.

I can already see some visible wear on the soles. The material is quite soft and durability is going to be a concern. Extrapolating the wear so far gives about 200 miles of total life. That's less than the Nike Free, which aren't exactly built like tanks.

The Hokas also hold moisture, and, well, let's just say it--stink. I store them in a nice dry location and run every other day, but they are getting pretty rank. And this is in MN. Good luck if you are in Houston or New Orleans.

But those concerns are secondary to performance and comfort. I am quite satisfied and will probably get another pair after the soles wear off or I can't stand the smell anymore, whichever comes first.

Great Shoes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 11.5

These are the shoes that made me love Hoka one one. I did most of the training for my half marathon. I was experiencing a lot of joint pain as I got closer to the hour of continues running. These shoes pushed me over the hour wall. Super cushy is an understatement. really like running on clouds. I would Alternate while training between a zero-drop Altra shoe. I would suggest that to you try training like that it works different muscles. I would recommend these to anyone going long distance or having joint issues. The top has a socklike fit and can cause some blistering. Try the Ph.D. Smartwool running sock. Please contact me for any question. lhaslem@backcountry this picture is of me after the rock'n'roll marathon on the Las Vagas strip. those are the older model of Clifton's.
